Could there possibly be a post about Goddess of Fire that candidly says the drama got better? The fact that I’m willing to refer to it by its drama title says a lot, but mostly its because Kim Bum‘s Kim Tae Do is suddenly back in the inner plot circle and gets more screen time again. I guess Detective Dee … Continue reading →
Joo Ji Hoon cannot catch a break when it comes to drama hair-dos. I can’t even wrap my mind around his hair for the role of the antagonist doctor in Medical Top Team. It’s slicked back, which usually denotes an ambitious suit-and-tie corporate raider type character. The slicked back I can handle, what’s destroying my eyes is how flat it … Continue reading →
For all that makes Who Are You just a relatively small scale drama with a hodge-podge of elements from detective mystery, horror, and SciFi, it does such a wonderful job of showing unfathomable disappointment when someone dies coupled with a hope that it won’t be in vain and the living can still find happiness. I’m not a fan of the … Continue reading →
I think the sole existence of screenwriter-producer Yu Zheng in the world of C-dramas and movies is really to act like a troll on history and fandom. He exploits anything and everything with equal aplomb, and with this new drama casting bombshell I’ve officially decided that he is also blind and has no ability to pick leading ladies. He ought … Continue reading →
September is the annual Big Issue for fashion magazines and nothing is heftier as a paper weight than Vogue. I’m appreciating that the most mainstream high brow fashion magazine isn’t always tossing edgy photo spreads at the readers and expecting us to be wowed because its so avant garde. I want just very pretty, is that so hard? Which is … Continue reading →
I have a long and fruitful love/boredom relationship with medical K-dramas. I’ve marathoned quite a few, but by and large the genre basically tells me to stay away. Those of you who read my blog know my real profession, so I am clearly not a doctor who would likely burst a blood vessel in rage when watching K-dramas completely slander … Continue reading →
I don’t know what to make of this news. Does it make me happy? Perplexed? Strangely relieved? Trading one hot mess for another? I don’t know but I’ll be keeping my eye on this as it develops. First came news two months ago that Jang Geun Seok was returning to K-dramas through the Group 8 produced manhwa drama-adaptation of Beautiful … Continue reading →
In the increasingly common world of unrelated Asian star meet cute moments, I really should be ready for whatever randomness comes my way but I still find myself doing a double take each and every time. On the pages of next mont’hs Ceci magazine, a red hot young Korean actress meets red hot young Japan actor for really no reason … Continue reading →
Cable is where it’s at, baby! I like Jae Hee so its with great pain and a sense of the absurd to see his post military acting projects hit upon one turd after another. First he picked Hooray for Love, and then dropped out when he hurt his back. Then came the terrible Color of Woman followed by the slaptastic … Continue reading →
Why mess with something that’s good and working, right? New Coke taught us all well. I think the brain trust marketing team at the youthful outdoor brand Bean Pole is planning to milk the Kim Soo Hyun–Suzy couple pairing for as long as they can. It’s been nearly three years since Dream High and as much as I thoroughly enjoyed … Continue reading →
Omo, this drama is coming together slowly and nicely. With the three leads of Yoon Eun Hye, Lee Dong Gun, and Jung Yong Hwa all confirmed for the upcoming KBS time travel drama Future’s Choice (Mi Rae’s Choice), the race is on to fill out the rest of the cast. Even though the love triangle aspect is already being played … Continue reading →
The first official stills are out for upcoming weekend family drama Give Love Away (Will You Love and Give it Away) airing on MBC in 4 weeks after I Summon You, Gold wraps up. I just have to give a shout out to ISYG – that drama be some of the craziest shit writing I’ve ever seen, akin to one … Continue reading →
Gah, why am I writing about The Drama Which Shall Henceforth Never Be Mentioned. Oh yes, because MBC just released the most apropos and hilariously adorable picture of Kim Bum about to commit seppuku on the set of GoF. My first thought was (1) you’re too beautiful to die so young!, and my second thought was (2) oh, but at … Continue reading →
