Just about everything and everyone involved in the upcoming TW-drama Just You garners a positive vibe from me. Aaron Yan has been a leading man a few times already but it was with his last drama Alice in Wonder City that I saw a vast improvement from him in range and technique. I had issues with the writing and his … Continue reading →
We’re just hours away from a new episode of Monstar and I have a good feeling this one will continue the nicely developing character growth and musical discovery the drama has established. Mnet released some official spoiler stills of Seol Chan and Se Yi in a near kiss situation and this can’t be a surprise to anyone since this scene … Continue reading →
The second teaser for Sword and Flower (The Blade and Petal) was released today after Mandate of Heaven and I almost flipped out of my chair in excitement. It looks sooooo good. And not just good in that trifecta possibility of acting excellence, directing prowess, and narrative intrigue, it also looks good in ways that mirror the best period dramas … Continue reading →
When I first watched K-dramas I thought each and every single one featured a love triangle. That was way back when, when if memory serves that was indeed the case. Or so it felt that way. Things have evolved since then in many ways, not just with respect to the love triangle, but that too has become something that sometimes … Continue reading →
My babies! My Monstar OTP! Is it going to be called Se-Chan or Seol-Yi? Have folks decided which mixed moniker fits our cutie pies the best? Ha Yeon Soo and Yong Jun Hyung literally went from “who are these people?” to “can I package them and take them home?” for me in the span of a week. I adore their … Continue reading →
I get why Cyrano Dating Agency is well-liked but not quite a popular mania drama. Its got a simple concept with the dating agency and client of the week stories, effective zippy execution and solid acting, and a charming low key vibe. What it lacks is a hook, something about one or two of the leads emotional state or personal … Continue reading →
MBC‘s current Wed-Thurs new offering Queen of the Classroom with Go Hyun Jung just started airing last week and that means its follow up drama had better get a move on. Once class is let out, up next is the Lee Jun Ki on-the-run thriller Two Weeks, which has quite a lot of expectation attached already. Lee Jun Ki is pairing … Continue reading →
Kim Jae Wook is back in a K-drama! *___* Commence collective freak out and fangirling preparation! Filming has already started for the next K-drama from cable network tvN, taking over the time slot currently occupied by the cute but not terribly compelling Cyrano Dating Agency. Starring Taecyeon and So Yi Hyun, tvN is taking a page from the Hong Sisters … Continue reading →
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but unless something radically pops up in the promotional materials for Goddess of Fire Jeongi with Moon Geun Young and Lee Sang Yoon to revive my flagging interest, I will probably check out its direct competitor Empire of Gold first when both premiere in two weeks. SBS is hoping EoG will win the critical … Continue reading →
I wasn’t particularly angling for Jang Geun Seok to pick a K-drama as his next project, insomuch as I was hoping he would pick something mature, challenging, and interesting as his next acting gig to maybe end his years long descent into self-absorbed career experimentation. He picked a melo as his last drama but Love Rain from PD Yoon Seok … Continue reading →
The upcoming weekend family drama Goddess of Marriage is finally releasing substantive material about its subject matter and tone and I’m getting more and more excited the more I see. The network finally released the script reading stills from last month and its such sprawling cast. This is one of the most fun casts I’ve seen in awhile. Aside from … Continue reading →
Look who’s back together on this week’s episode of Gu Family Book? It’s the original flavor Mommy and Daddy Lee Yeon Hee and Choi Jin Hyuk as the drama wraps up the parents story. Frankly I though the whole thing was wrapped up at the beginning of episode 3 when Seol Hwa was cut down, but the drama managed to … Continue reading →
If there is one thing Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love did right from start to soon-to-finish, it was to showcase the most stunning hanboks I have ever seen in any sageuk. Rich glorious designs, magnetic colors from deeps to pastels, and styles that perfectly accentuate the wearer’s femininity and unique look. That drama deserves an entire homage to its … Continue reading →
