I hope these two walk down the red carpet and put a ring on their five year relationship soon, because it’s sure to be the most high profile Taiwanese celebrity wedding of this new century and every single Taiwanese celebrity will be in attendance. Ethan Ruan jetted to Milan right after he was released from serving a year of mandatory … Continue reading →
Flower Boy Next Door successfully wrapped up its too short 16-episode run with a satisfying and meaningful conclusion to the journey. Lessons were learned, laughter and tears flowed aplenty, and by the end I was smiling from ear-to-ear even as I already felt a whift of nostalgia that this is the end. I’m glad I kept the faith because the … Continue reading →
The Park Shi Hoo and K rape allegation investigation continues to develop in ways that are absolutely baffling. I’m really neutral towards Park Shi Hoo as an actor and entertainer prior to this scandal breaking, so my coverage of the developments is neither motivated by liking him or disliking him. I am, however, really perturbed by everything surrounding this unfolding … Continue reading →
When I saw these new pictures of Park Shin Hye for the Spring collection of jeans and denim for Jambangee (hilarious name, BTW), I actually gasped out loud. Who else got flashbacks to baby Brooke Shields and her “Nothing gets between me and my Calvins” ad campaign? Or did I date myself? Or not, since I could just be very … Continue reading →
We’ve one episode to go with Flower Boy Next Door and this drama hasn’t let me down yet. Even the angsty previews for episode 15 turned out to be issues that could be worked through and our OTP continues to work through them. I’m traveling for work this week and the most I can muster up are baby recaps in … Continue reading →
Yu Zheng‘s The Swordsman, a complete massacre of the classic wuxia novel Smiling Proud Wanderer, is so so SO bad I cannot even write about it. Talking about that atrocity is like pouring boiling water over a fresh burn. Much as I would like him to retire from producing dramas immediately, the man isn’t going anywhere and he has in … Continue reading →
There are considerable similarities in law enforcement and criminal investigation in most developed countries, though the common law versus civil law countries have their own unique divergences in criminal procedure. I don’t know Korean criminal law but the Park Shi Hoo and “K” sexual assault allegation investigation is taking a turn for the strange and not very transparent. Both Park … Continue reading →
With two weeks left until its premiere, don’t be surprised to start seeing more promotional material from upcoming weekend drama The Best Lee Soon Shin. I’m also uncertain whether relatively newbie actress IU, with only a supporting part in Dream High under her belt, is ready to headline a drama that is named after her character no less. She has … Continue reading →
Good ole Yoon Eun Hye – even in the dead of Winter she manages to jolt me awake like a splash of refreshing cold water for the visual senses. Fresh off a very disappointing turn (for me) in Missing You, where her performance was solid but the character so superficially written, at least she got to experience the melodrama bug … Continue reading →
I really cannot believe Flower Boy Next Door has completed filming. It felt like yesterday when the cast was announced and little treats started trickling out before Christmas amplifying the spirit of the joyous holidays. Not it’s already the end of February and time to bid adieu to shy Dok Mi, gregarious Enrique, and dorky Jin Rok. I will look … Continue reading →
So….what do you all think? Even giving it the biggest benefit of the doubt ever, is there even a chance that the upcoming gangster melodrama When a Man Loves will be anything but a hot mess? Right now WAML is running neck-and-neck with Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love as the two dramas with the greatest upside-downside swing. It can … Continue reading →
If these absolutely gorgeous first official stills from the upcoming fantasy sageuk Gu Family Book are anything to go by, this will be one lush and beautiful to behold sageuk. To this day Arang and the Magistrate remains one of the prettiest sageuks I have ever watched (Chuno is still the most stunning visually), and that is always an achievement … Continue reading →
It’s rather difficult not to have an opinion on the Park Shi Hoo rape allegation case by now. One can refrain from making a judgment on the available facts and speculation, but is hard not to have a preliminary opinion of what might have happened. In alleged rape cases, even when all the facts are sifted through and sometimes when … Continue reading →
