For all you UK drama fans, I’m sorry I was rather preoccupied lately and couldn’t give you the heads up that Lee Seung Gi was going to be in your neck of the woods this week. My adorable boy was there to carry the Olympic torch on behalf of Samsung, where he is one of their primary star endorsers, and … Continue reading →
I’m starting the get the weird sensation of deja vu. Last June I found myself completely obsessed with a drama that ended up sucking months out of my life, and this June I seemed to have descended down the exact same black hole (though Lie to Me started in May and ended in June, whereas Big started in June and will … Continue reading →
Omo, it’s Xiao Yao ge ge back together with feisty little Yue Ru! It’s been eight long years since Hu Ge and Ady An co-starred in Chinese Paladin (though Crystal Liu was the female lead, I liked Ady’s second female lead much better) and fans of that pairing were thrilled last week when it was announced that they were pairing … Continue reading →
As far as second female leads go, Suzy‘s persistent little stalker Mari in Big ranks pretty low on the annoying meter. She amuses me, probably because I adore Suzy and she’s not a serious third wheel in the Kyung Jae-Da Ran growing relationship. A third reason might be that the other second female lead Se Young owns all the requisite … Continue reading →
It’s rather ironic for me to see Jung So Min paired up with Im Shi Wan, because they are almost opposites in how I perceive their acting. Min Min is the queen of 101 natural expressions, so vivid and candid without coming across as gummy or overacting. Shi Wan has at most one and a half expressions, and I’m rather … Continue reading →
Hot hot off the press – the long awaited video preview for episode 7 of Big plus my translation of the dialogue. Is this a perfect start to the weekend or what? Can I say that everything I see still looks fantastic. Mari finds out about the body switch and starts making her move, but Da Ran also takes a … Continue reading →
Due to a change in PD, filming has been pushed back from July on the upcoming K-movie Covertly Grandly (also translated as Secretive and Great) starring Kim Soo Hyun as a North Korean undercover operative stationed in rural South Korea. Based on a popular Korean webtoon of the same name, this story apparently toggles both the comedy and intensity with … Continue reading →
Oh boy, Panda and Hedgehog has the potential to be such a mess it’s not even funny. Not because it airs on cable network Channel A, or stars up-and-coming young actors Donghae and Yoon Seung Ah, but because the writer of this drama also produced It’s Okay, Daddy’s Girl. That drama was a hot mess of the first degree, and … Continue reading →
Sigh, how could they look so perfect together? Why does a tux and a wedding dress turn my insides into joyful jelly. At this point Big is beyond amazing to me, both in its uncertain narrative and fractured lens of viewing what we see and what we know. We see 31 old Yoon Jae, but we know he’s 19 year … Continue reading →
Joe Cheng turned thirty this week and guess who was there to celebrate with him? None other than his best bro Mike He. They posted a picture of them back-to-back tipping some wine, which of course got their fans excited (and likely fuels the flames of those pesky rumors yet again). Joe hasn’t just been celebrating turning the big 3-0, last … Continue reading →
I just watched a preview for a drama that made me all sniffly. My heart hurt despite not even knowing exactly what was going on. The preview for the upcoming idol drama Summertime was magnificent – the cinematography was so beautiful it took my breath away, and the two leads George Hu and Gui Gui (Wu Ying Jie) were riveting … Continue reading →
Holy Moly, the amount of sheer beauty in this post is unreal. Chinese clothing brand Eichitoo released a slew of new pictures of its newest spokescouple Kim Bum and Ariel Lin, and I swear my breath caught in my throat and I couldn’t make a noise for a good ten seconds. Almost turned purple, but that is the power of … Continue reading →
My eyes, my eyes, I’m blinding by too much gorgeousness! The first official character stills are out of the leads for Arang and the Magistrate. Lee Jun Ki and Shin Mina are absolutely positively exploding off the screen in intensity. I feel their characters in these shots, as opposed to being static and two-dimensional. Jun Ki’s piercing gaze gives me … Continue reading →
