I need a new episode of Big like a penguin need snow, like a cat needs nip, like a dog needs a bone, frankly, like a Koala needs eucalyptus. Who will save a poor Koala from perishing from want? Unless I figure out how to time-slip, I guess I have to be patient. While I don’t think the Hong Sisters … Continue reading →
It’s hard to ignore the pink elephant in the room when everyone keeps asking me if I’ve seen it. Yes, my sweet chingus, thank you for the unending links and emails about Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo dating in real life. Yes, I’ve seen it. The reason I chose not to write about it was, borrowing from the … Continue reading →
Okay, the first thought in my head is – Megan Lai is insanely tall. SETTV held a quick press conference yesterday to introduce the two leads for its upcoming Sunday night idol drama Miss Rose (螺絲小姐要出嫁 which literally translates as Miss Screw is Getting Married). Roy joked that his nickname on the set was Brother Square Footage, because his character’s name is … Continue reading →
Yeah, that’s my baby boy there. Shin made the pages of July’s Ceci Magazine prolly on account of his going from cute new idol to boy-who-competes-with-Gong-Yoo in screen presence. Let me say that while Gong Yoo is reaching new acting heights in Big, especially as he comes back from the one year time skip as new and improved Kyung Joon, … Continue reading →
Big may be about the maturation of a teenage boy, but it can be used to showcase the maturation of the Hong Sisters writing style. They dropped a stunning time jump at the end of episode 5, and all of episode 6 left me feeling like I was watching a completely different drama. Episode 1 was all sorts of dreamy … Continue reading →
The upcoming C-drama starring Choi Siwon, Yuan Hong, and Wang Luo Dan has already gotten one name change in its Chinese title, but hopefully this one will stick. It’s now called Fall in Love with You Again (Chinese title literally means turn around and fall in love with you). Most C-dramas are filmed in sprawling movie studios in Hen Dian … Continue reading →
That is sure a whole lotta of pretty boy pretty in one drama. I hope the leading lady, whoever she is, won’t feel upstaged. Nam Goong Min has just been confirmed as joining Kim Hyun Joong in the upcoming manhwa drama adaptation of the gritty 90s City Conquest. I don’t read manhwas but from the synopsis, this reads like a … Continue reading →
When the Hong Sisters said they were doing a drama about a boy growing up, episode 5 of Big proves that they weren’t kidding and they are willing to expand their narrative considerably. Just as I was expecting more body switch hijinks, this episode takes me for twirl and then deposits me in jaw-drop land. I was floored by the … Continue reading →
Mind. Melted. Watching episode 5 of Big, I was tra-la-la-ing happily going with the flow, until I was smacked over the head with the Hong Sisters throwing in a twist this early in the game. What tha what? If you thought you knew how this story was going to unfold, I tell you now to throw it out the window … Continue reading →
A stunning wedding-themed pictorial always gets my inner princess ready to go. I think wedding photo shoots that are just shy of edgy, but with enough punch and pop that it captures the eye to more than the wedding dress itself. Lee Da Hae’s most recent wedding shoot for a Chinese magazine is glorious, the perfect combination of the model … Continue reading →
This spoiler stuffed post for Big is so damn amazing it needs to be accompanied by the header for the Cola Kiss from Lie to Me. Yes, it’s at that level of making me so happy I might’ve burst a blood vessel somewhere. I had an amazing weekend already, so this is like icing on the cake I never expected … Continue reading →
I don’t know how C-dramas do it, but Secrets Hidden in Time (the drama adaptation of the Tong Hua novel of the same name) feels like it started filming a few weeks ago, yet here it is releasing a ten-minute trailer already. I’ve made no secret that I find this novel rather unpalatable, but I still want to watch the … Continue reading →
Everyone knows I don’t do K-pop (or any pop for that matter). I’m a drama girl, and my knowledge of music comes from a love of the sound rather than the people who sing it. So a boybander can fall from the sky and land on top of me and I would have no clue who he is and which … Continue reading →
