Taiwan’s top television gala The Golden Bell Awards held it’s ceremony last Friday night in Taipei. I haven’t been following along since, for the most part, I didn’t watch most of the dramas or performances nominated. I didn’t really care who won, as long as the winner was deserving, but I remained casually rooting for Joseph Chang to win Best Actor and … Continue reading →
After Birdie Buddy and The Musical were picked up this year by cable networks and aired, the number of pre-filmed dramas waiting for an airing date and network dwindled down to just What’s Up, which coincidentally was the only one I was interested in anyways. WU is a college music-themed drama about students in a performing arts department, starring Daesung … Continue reading →
Now that most folks have already finished watching Bu Bu Jing Xin, I find the comments section a fascinating hotbed of discussion. A good drama has the ability to incite discussion because it’s multi-faceted. Bad people are not all bad, good people are not angelically good. What happens in BBJX are actions and reactions stemming from people having different interests … Continue reading →
So when I did the post about J-actors, I was called out for ignoring so-and-so actor, regardless of my preemption in saying this was simply my list. However, there was one actor that I ought to have included but didn’t because I had a brain fart. Rather than go back and insert him, I was waiting for his new drama … Continue reading →
‘Tis the season for more weddings! Or at least I sure hope so, because weddings always make me happy. It’s just a celebration of love, hope, and commitment, regardless of what the future holds. Yoo Ji Tae and Kim Hyo Jin, who have dated since 2007, announced in May that they were engaged and planning to tie the knot later … Continue reading →
Moon Geun Young has been studying abroad in New York City for the past month, simply learning English and living the ordinary life of an exchange student in a bustling city. I’m thrilled that she posted a detailed update on her Cyworld account a few days ago, complete with those two selcas above. Geun Young is as candid and sweet … Continue reading →
It’s the 500th Edition of Korea’s Movieweek magazine, which coincides with the periodical hitting it’s 10th anniversary of publication. To commemorate this occasion, Movieweek has two special rotating covers, one featuring “the actresses” and the other naturally featuring the “actors”. It’s a black tie and ball gown affair, which is fitting since the magazine it hitting quite a momentous milestone. For … Continue reading →
Yoon Eun Hye was in NYC last month doing an endorsement for Calvin Klein that was used as pictorials in various magazines. Her individual shots were featured in Dazed and Confused, but she and TOP (of Big Bang fame) did a couples shoot that was just released for November’s issue of W Korea. These pictures are very femme fatale seducing … Continue reading →
I can’t believe we’re barreling towards the end of 2011 already. Boggles the mind really. I realize the K-drama year is also wrapping to a close with only a handful of dramas remaining to premiere this year. At which time the Korean media will want to assess the hits and misses. Until then, I thought it fitting to dig up … Continue reading →
It’s a no brainer decision really, for me to break my longstanding rule in not jumping into a recap series midway. On one hand is my arbitrary rule, on the other is the chance to recap the moment somewhere down the line when Zi Qi kisses Xing Ren and makes her swoon (you all know it’s gonna happen, right?). Clearly … Continue reading →
Now this is one noona-dongsaeng romance pairing I’d totally love to see. Perpetually baby-faced quirky beauty Choi Kang Hee, coming off of a great turn in Protect the Boss, went to Barcelona for a photoshoot with Kim Soo Hyun for Singles Magazine. I initially didn’t know where they went, but one look at the first picture and I KNEW it was … Continue reading →
I would love for Office Girls to pull the rug out from under the typical rom-com relationship development and have Xing Ren and Zi Qi get together soon and then deal more with them winning at the company as a team. I’m really annoyed by the Kai Er arc, and it’s clear Yu Cheng Feng doesn’t like Xing Ren that … Continue reading →
You know? The only time I liked Tendo Akane was when she had long hair. Of course that lasted all of, what, two episodes. And then I spent the remaining thirty-something books annoyed with her. Which is why I was hoping the upcoming Ranma 1/2 SP from Japan would let Akane keep her locks. But alas, the first stills have … Continue reading →
