It’s been 5 years since period C-drama Joy of Life (Qing Yu Nian) became a huge hit and the talks immediately of sequel has turned into years but now it’s almost here. Joy of Life 2 sees leads Zhang Ruo Yan and Li Qin returning but supporting lead Xiao Zhan who has become a much bigger star since then is … Continue reading →
C-actress Zhao Lu Si wrapped Tang dynasty period drama The Story of Pearl Girl (formerly known as The Legend of Jewelry) earlier this year and is reportedly intentionally not doing another project right away. She’s been taking the downtime to do more brand events and other activity but she does have another project lined up. She’s signed the intent letter … Continue reading →
There are so many addicted Queen of Hearts stans lol and tvN is going keep being good to us. Last week the network announced two special episodes airing the weekend after the finale, it will likely consist of unaired scenes, interviews, and BTS if the rumors are correct. This week the network further announced that male lead Kim Soo Hyun … Continue reading →
I’m glad to see some leads not the usual coterie of C-drama names and these two are definitely on my like radar. Tencent period C-drama Serendipity adapted from the C-novel 榜上佳婿 Bang Shang Jia Shu (literal translation Banner High Good Husband) is slated to kick off filming in the next two weeks with confirmed leads Wang Zi Qi and Lu … Continue reading →
So this is a very specific rumor rather than the usual “airing soon” type scheduling chatter so I thought it worth sharing. C-ent insiders are saying the production of C-drama Winner Is King (Feng Huo Liu Jing 烽火流金) based on the novel Sha Po Lang by famous BL novel writer Priest is going to arrive soon. It will reportedly air … Continue reading →
I’ve used this phrase “Stop trying to make Fetch happen” before with a few actors and actresses who I feel keeps getting cast in lead roles despite being unable to deliver a good performance and/or ratings. K-actress Shin Hyun Bin has been in hit dramas like Hospital Playlist and Reborn Rich but she is not the reason for the success … Continue reading →
I can’t say this is pointless and sometimes it’s important enough to take a stance on it even if not much will change. Following disgraced entertainer Mickey Huang getting probation, a fine, and writing an apology letter for purchasing 7 videos of hardcore child porn discovered through a raid of the illegal website, some government officials and stars are publicly … Continue reading →
A nice bit of gossip out of C-ent for once and this time no crazy fandom is having any conniptions. A C-netizen from Qingdao is claiming the local government recently issued a marriage license for C-stars Zhai Tian Lin and Xin Zhi Lei. The two have been reportedly dating for 6 years and I say reportedly because they have not … Continue reading →
So while I have been on a Queen of Tears tear for the last few weeks, the recent arrival of another new tvN drama may be worth picking up now both to join the hype train and to add more dramas to watch during the week between new QoT episodes. tvN released Lovely Runner (Running Away with Sun Jae on … Continue reading →
I remember wondering where Hong Ye Ji popped out from to get the female lead role in the KBS sageuk drama Love Song for Illusion with Park Ji Hoon which aired earlier this year. Reportedly the drama was a hot mess so I skipped it but heard the general consensus was that she was really not cut out to be … Continue reading →
Ooooohhhhh I really like this! In one month we now have had three actors in talks for the period C-drama The Brocaded Tale of the Girl Si and the last and final is definitely my fave of the three. First there was Alan Fang, a great choice but not guaranteed since he’s not a big enough name. Then came Chen … Continue reading →
This has been a super popcorn filled story and actually started two months earlier. During lunar new year the C-movie Article 20 directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Lei Jia Yin, Ma Li, and Zhao Li Ying was released to great reviews and high box office. All good right? Not really, as the success of the movie was marred by … Continue reading →
C-ent insiders are always saying that the disgraced stars will still be fine even after getting cancelled by the Chinese government after scandals mostly tax evasion but sometimes cultural/social missteps. Even ones that don’t ever come back like Zheng Shuang or Li Yi Feng or Deng Lun will have lots of money stashed away already, homes purchased, and side hustles … Continue reading →
