So we likely won’t see this C-drama until 2025 but I’m hopeful the ample post-production time will deliver a stellar visual product, on top of hoping the script and directing is good. The Legend of Jewelry finished its 5 month shoot this week and the cast led by leads Zhao Lu Si and Liu Yu Ning celebrated with a wrap … Continue reading →
So I’ll use the big romance drama hit of the last few years Crash Landing on You for comparison since it’s written by the same screenwriter Park Ji Eun as currently airing tvN drama Queen of Tears. Today’s episode 3 hit 9.594% ratings and Crash didn’t break 9% until episode 6, so this gives a glimpse of the runway to … Continue reading →
So this is a high profile IP project for the C-drama Tales of Dark River adapted from the same name novel and anime. It’s a wuxia and assassin tale with a strong male lead character and will be starring Gong Jun in the lead role. Now the second male lead is confirmed as fast rising young fresh faced Chang Hua … Continue reading →
So this is both a sweet and funny in timing dating confirmation. Acting stars Son Ho Jun and Gong Seung Yeon are alleged to have been dating, for two whole years actually. I don’t know if a tabloid was about to out them but the timing couldn’t have been better for releasing the information to have it skate under the … Continue reading →
Welp this has indeed turned messy, at least for K-ent standards. The J-tourist alleged sighting of Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee flirting in Hawaii has now indeed been confirmed as the two are dating. Han So Hee went first by posting on her personal blog a very long message to her fans (translated below). She admitted the relationship, … Continue reading →
So the news for the last 24-hours in South Korean entertainment has been the alleged Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee are dating rumors. A Japanese tourist in Hawaii claims to have seen them by the pool in side-by-side lounge chairs flirting with each other and that it was being talked about at the hotel as top gossip. The … Continue reading →
So I first heard this drama adaptation of the novel Cherry Amber two years ago when it was rumored to star Zhao Lu Si with either Wu Lei or Chen Zhe Yuan as the male lead. Since then it’s more of a smaller budget production and this week is back on the casting circuit with news that it’s being offered … Continue reading →
A new C-drama has kicked off filming called Light in the Night (Confessions in the Dark) with veteran Pan Yue Ming and younger actor Dylan Wang. It’s the classic formula of grizzled cop with fresh eager newbie in an investigative series. The two male leads apparently have equal billing but Pan Yue Ming’s name is first in last name alphabetical … Continue reading →
Is this the beginning of the end, or the start of a new world? I’ve been seeing the decrease in K-dramas being produced and the drop in ratings on terrestrial and cable networks for the last decade, but an uptick when the streaming platforms in the last few years got into producing their own K-dramas. But now even that has … Continue reading →
So it’s usually a year to even two years for a big budget (S or A level) C-drama to air after wrapping filming. That includes time for post-production, submitting for second/final approval, and then finding the right slot. So for C-dramas that finished filming in late 2023 and now early 2024, I don’t expect to see it onscreen until 2025 … Continue reading →
So this isn’t a big budget C-drama but is what I call mid-budget but these always have a shot at being a surprise small hit. Youku will reportedly air drop with zero promos the period C-drama In Blossom starring Ju Jing Yi and Liu Xue Yi next week, or maybe even a few days earlier than that. There have been … Continue reading →
Has it been a little over a year since K-actress Son Ye Jin was in the public limelight? She had her baby in November 2022 with husband Hyun Bin and has been in mommy mode ever since. This week she attended the Valentino event in Seoul showing off major leg in an all-white mini dress with lace applique cut outs … Continue reading →
So unlike the recent image change attempted by Yang Chao Yue, this one feels totally on point and a bit of “what took you so long?” C-actress Wang Chu Ran attended a Gucci event last week where she wore a long black coat over a simple white t-shirt and black short shorts look coupled with sleek long hair, dark eyeliner, … Continue reading →
