The reshoot in order to air period drama The Golden Hairpin will happen, it’s a matter of when and who not if. As an S+ budget drama there is just too much money sunk in to let it never air so earlier this year it was reported that Lin Geng Xin would be the replacement male lead for Wu Yi … Continue reading →
It’s quite common for agencies of main lead stars to insist on a newcomer from their agency get a second or supporting role as a plus one casting for a drama to help launch the comparative new face. Producer Yu Zheng is especially known for doing and the recent C-drama Scent of Time with Zhou Ye and Wang Xing Yue … Continue reading →
Well this is a juicy midweek adrenaline rush in terms of hot gossip. A well known entertainment tabloid scooper in C-ent this week dropped the melon that top young actress Yang Zi was in fact not single. He claimed that Yang Zi was in a relationship with a long term boyfriend that lived in the same neighborhood as her hence … Continue reading →
So I don’t know who is behind it but it’s definitely getting some backlash online. Recently there have been comparisons of C-actress Zhao Lu Si with super popular It Girl pop star Jang Won Young of the group Ive in visuals. The blowback is that Zhao Lu Si’s fandom or her team is generating these comparisons to make her look … Continue reading →
It must’ve been a lackluster year in romance and rom-com K-dramas because of the top three favorite drama couples only one came from that genre. It goes to Junho and Yoona in rom-com King the Land, which brought in buzz and ratings for the network and lots of the love for the leads even if the drama itself was just … Continue reading →
Rom-coms are never big budgeted to begin with but when I saw the poster and first trailer for My Man is Cupid I just felt bad for the cast involved. This looks like a cast off project that leads Jang Dong Yoon, Nana, and Park Ki Woong picked up either to pay the bills or fill time on their open … Continue reading →
Ooooh, this is juicy and a true power struggle with stakes. I don’t think non-Chinese dialect speakers understand the genesis of the dub in C-dramas and even earlier with HK-dramas and TW-dramas. The issue is that the Chinese ethnic groups have so many dialects some of which are unintelligible to each other that a universal dialect is needed to at … Continue reading →
It’s the end of the Answer Me 1988 real life couple era, as popular young stars Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri confirmed they have split up. The couple dated for 6 years after filming the drama together and it was a balm for drama shippers as their characters were beloved to end up together onscreen but didn’t so the off … Continue reading →
The first K-dramas to promulgate the Hallyu trend were the seasons dramas, namely Winter Sonata which was actually the second in the series with the first being Autumn in My Heart, then WS, followed by Summer Scent and then Spring Waltz. It was story secondary to the seasonal theme and backdrop but the visuals when combined properly with the right … Continue reading →
Song Hye Kyo is following up her excellent drama year thanks to Netflix bullied revenge drama The Glory with a return to the big screen. She’s in talks for the movie The Nuns and will likely get K-actress Jeon Yeo Bin as her costar. The movie is a spinoff of the K-movie The Priests and will be produced by the … Continue reading →
When Hollywood comes calling for most Asian stars is always an opportunity impossible to pass by. For Park Seo Joon I wished he would have passed right on by the recent MCU movie The Marvels because hoo boy was the movie so chaotic and mediocre (and bombed in its first weekend at the box office) but his role in particular … Continue reading →
So this C-drama has been bandied about for the last two years but the female lead has always been the same with Crystal Liu, one of the top actresses in C-ent and always an S+ first billing in any production. There have been various actors in talks for the drama Chang Ling with Wang Yibo and Allen Ren the most … Continue reading →
So Netflix is borrowing a page from the split airing of The Glory and airing Gyeongseong Creature in two parts but lucky for us viewers the two parts will only be two weeks apart rather than three months again. The first drama poster and teaser preview just dropped and it’s an actual creature feature, all pun aside I didn’t know … Continue reading →
