A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The K-drama remake of Goong (Princess Hours) which has been discussed for a new years now is for sure a go this year, with confirmed production in 2024. Perhaps it’s not a remake but another adaptation of the source manhwa itself so there definitely is room to do something unique rather than a beat-for-beat but updated for this current gen … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Well my article on the near collapse of three of the four leads in Sungkyunkwan Scandal was prescient by a few days considering some have pointed out that Park Min Young was merely scandal by association for dating an alleged fraudster. Today K-ent is reporting that Park Min Young herself was under investigation for involvement in his financial crimes case … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

This is like getting called out by the school principal, embarrassing as heck but whether there are broader implications it’s not clear yet. This past weekend the Chinese Central Television official website published an article by a news reporter discussing the scourge of young actors who are “The Hopeless Illiterate” after that term started trending. The trend started due to … Continue reading →

MBC Fri-Sat Fantasy Drama Kokdu: Season of Deity with Kim Jung Hyun and Im Soo Hyang Drops to Low 1.9% Ratings by Episode 6

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Full disclosure, I watched the first episode of Kokdu: Season of Deity three weeks ago and HATED it. Like, I went in with optimistic expectations and was supremely underwhelmed by the set up and put off by the bad editing. So if the drama got better I wasn’t around to see it but the ratings have definitely taken an road … Continue reading →

Chen Fei Yu’s Agency Admits He’s the Man in the Recently Leaked Bed Pictures Scandal But Denies it was a Cheating Relationship

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Welp, Ah Se’s reputation just went into the gutter but it will need to be seen if this is an unforgivable (to C-netizens and Chinese moral police) transgression or just the the garden variety you’ve been a bad boy living up your playboy life type of tsk tsk thing. This past weekend C-ent was lit up with a bombshell gossip … Continue reading →

Awesome Ent Continues the Solid Promotion of Kim Yoo Jung in Sharing Rehearsal Pictures from Shakespeare in Love

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Those of us who love Kim Yoo Jung are just enchanted by her natural acting, even as a kid she was just a laugh, anger, cry on cue organically of an actress. I don’t think she’s changed over her nearly two decades in the industry but adult roles are much harder to find good fits and solid storylines so her … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The audience love for Crash Course in Romance continues and the more I watch the more the things I love about it outweigh the few that I don’t. There was emotional breakthroughs for both leads, candid conversations, and even a drunken kiss that felt so sweetly orchestrated, this rom-com is doing wonders for reminding viewers that not all K-drama romance … Continue reading →

Endorsements and Brands Start to Drop Yoo Ah In During His Drug Use Investigation and He’s Likely on the Hook for Extensive Penalties

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

This is so been there done that in C-ent, the moment a scandal breaks the star is dropped like a hot potato by brands AND on the hook thereafter for penalties stemming from breach of contract with the image and morality clause. You can question the fairness of such a clause but in contracts when one party pays for something … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

OMG, it’s been a LOOOOOONG time since I remember watching a K-drama as headdesk frustrating as this one. K-netizens Discuss the Complex Collapse of Once Hit Drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal in that Only One of the Leads is Scandal Free

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I thought Sungkyunkwan Scandal was basically un-re-watchable after the Park Yoochun toilet scandal, and even more so with his drug arrest and myriad additional subsequent scandals after. But now K-netizens are saying its unfathomable levels of un-re-watchable with only one remaining non-scandal ridden star among the four leads namely Song Joong Ki. With Yoo Ah In‘s propofol investigation and Park … Continue reading →

Jang Ki Yong in Talks for Fantasy K-drama Though Not a Hero as First Project Post Military Discharge

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I felt like K-actor Jang Ki Yong hasn’t been gone for military enlistment for that long but that’s due to him having a drama air months after he enlisted, namely Now, We are Breaking Up. That one was a raging snoozer but I did enjoy the one before My Roommate is a Gumiho. Maybe fantasy is his genre so this … Continue reading →
