Oh this is a hella spot on casting for the high school era teen versions of the female leads in the upcoming dark revenge drama The Glory. Song Hye Kyo‘s teacher character has been plotting her revenge for two decades after her architectural dreams were shattered from horrific bullying in high school so the viewer will really need to connect … Continue reading →
A girl is bound to grow up and C-actress Guan Xiaotong has flirted with a more mature image in the past two years but at this week’s 2022 GQ MOTY Awards (Model of the Year) she really flipped that switch. Chinese viewers have watcher her grow up as one of the most famous child actresses turned still promising teen star … Continue reading →
I’m sure if I had time I could do a drama case study on Alchemy of Souls – the great start, the petering out, the frustrating lack of clarity and answers in the massive world building, and the headdesk inducing ending. The case study now extends to the second truncated season of Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow which is … Continue reading →
This was an incredible weekend airing for Reborn Rich, three episodes of roller coaster ups and downs and some impactful emotional moments from nearly all the main characters, most of which were because of Grandpa. He’s really the Machiavellian heart of this drama but with a still human soul, I’m glad he died before he knew it was his wife … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN still doesn’t do Year End Drama awards like the Big Three network does despite clamoring for it from viewers. A consolation is streaming network TVING which is a joint venture of a few media companies include jTBC is holding it’s TVING Awards for the popular shows (drama and variety) streamed exclusively on its platform for the South … Continue reading →
Well someone at a newspaper wants to get on the bad side of KBS, or perhaps frankly no one cares since KBS has really hit a new low. Normally the network falls behind SBS and MBC in hit dramas in recent years but still has some just not as many. This year in 2022 it literally HAS NONE. Like, not … Continue reading →
Filming has kicked off for the C-drama adaptation of period fantasy romance novel Hidden God, the sequel in the same story that was Ancient Love Poetry. It will be Zhao Lu Si‘s first role in a xianxia drama (about time!) and she’s got top billing here so if the drama succeeds or fails will definitely impact what the industry thinks … Continue reading →
jTBC weekend drama Reborn Rich continues to redefine certain aspects of K-dramas, from its fast-paced plot development to dropping three episodes a week so next week is actually the finale already. Can’t believe it, me too! Every weekend the drama has hit new ratings high and this weekend is no exception, Saturday’s episode 13 22.456% but is still a ways … Continue reading →
Wowowow talk about fan service! Next week two sets of the breakout stars of Reborn Rich will be taking their onscreen chemistry and charm directly to the viewers with an AMA (ask me anything) question-and-answer session. There will be Kim Shin Rok as the aunty and only daughter and Kim Do Hyun playing her doting husband and now Mayor of … Continue reading →
This is a step in the right direction and I’m so moved by Lee Seung Gi’s raw honesty and next step decision. This week Hook Entertainment paid Lee Seung Gi 5 billion won (almost $4 million USD) for around 20 years of owed profits from his singing career that it withheld from him. Lee Seung Gi confirmed it but explained … Continue reading →
There are new stills of female lead C-actress Liu Shi Shi in the upcoming wuxia drama A Journey to Love and I’m just so excited for this drama. It’s a wuxia and not xianxia drama so no immortals and power surges and reincarnation and it’s exactly what I want from Liu Shi Shi, to go back to classic wuxia where … Continue reading →
Okay, this drama just got wayyyy interesting, though the execution could be wasted. The drama Useless Lies has confirmed the main three leads of Kim So Hyun, Minhyun, and also Seo Ji Hoon, the perpetual second male lead. I like him actually, he is solid onscreen but doesn’t sizzle in the way male leads need to be to get the … Continue reading →
Hahaha, I feel so shallow that my only interest in this movie is to witness firsthand how insanely how and scruffy Hyun Bin looks. It’s his first scruffy looking role since over a decade ago in The Snow Queen but that was tortured soul emo scruffy and for The Point Men he’s reluctant action hero scruffy. The movie fictionizes the … Continue reading →
