I’m nowhere near South Korea during the run of the upcoming stage adaptation of Shakespeare in Love to run during the late winter 2023 season into early spring but I LOVE the cast of familiar talented K-drama faces so it’s a treat to follow along. The production released new character posters today that are like works of art, putting Asian … Continue reading →
This is certainly an ignominious list to be on but I don’t think anything mentioned here are deal breakers. K-ent beat reporters voted on the list of worst (most rude) stars on the press circuit this year in 2022 and there are some surprises. Topping the list with 20 votes is Ma Dong Seok, who didn’t do press for the … Continue reading →
This January 2023 will usher in Season of Kkok Du, the fantasy romance drama from MBC that brings together Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun in a love story that isn’t just soul snatching it’s also fated to be. Kim Jung Hyun is a Grim Reaper who goes on a forced vacation and takes over the body of a … Continue reading →
Oh this is so out of nowhere and super interesting drama news! K-ent is reporting that a sageuk drama (or melodrama romance haha) is being prepped for 2023 with the not so interesting name of Spy but a super intriguing potential pairing of Jo Jung Seok and Shin Se Kyung. It’s about a reviled King and the female spy who … Continue reading →
There seems to be a stream to come of South Korean movies dealing with the Japanese occupation era in different topics. One is the January 2023 movie Phantom (Ghost), a remake of the 2007 Chinese movie The Message (which is adapted from the Chinese novel The Sound of the Wind). It’s about the Japanese government kidnapping a group of suspected … Continue reading →
Peeps who know the language of flowers will need to share what the trumpet vines mean as it’s being used for the backdrop of the new character posters for upcoming Netflix drama The Glory. It’s one week away from premiering next Friday on the streaming platform with a full 8-episode drop of the first season. The new character posters are … Continue reading →
Well, jTBC drama Reborn Rich continues its juggernaut this time breaking a different ratings record. Gallup Poll posts monthly results of South Korean viewers on their favorite currently airing K-drama and to no one’s surprise Reborn Rich tops this December 2022 poll with 16.6%. That is apparently an astronomical number as even breaking 10% is considered a mega hit. To … Continue reading →
Hoo boy this is BIG news! K-actor Park Bo Gum has announced that he’s in the free market after deciding not to renew his contract with long time agency Blossom Entertainment. He debuted in 2011 with Sidus HQ and almost immediately moved to Blossom where he’s been for the 10 years. I feel like I’m watching a scene play out … Continue reading →
Every time I hear casting changes due to “scheduling conflict” I always go ummmmhhmmmmm suuuuuuure. But this time it’s true because the actual conflict is given and it’s pretty clear both sides wanted it happen until it couldn’t. Upcoming weekend drama The Real One Has Appeared which confirmed Baek Jin Hee and Kwak Si Yang last month will need to … Continue reading →
So I guess a binge watch is in store for December 30th, when all 8 episodes of the first season of K-drama The Glory drops on Netflix. The cast and crew held a press conference this week and confirmed that the drama will be split into two seasons, so the year end premiere is season 1 and season 2 will … Continue reading →
I think we viewers are lucky to have Lee Sung Min cast as Grandpa (Haraboji) in Reborn Rich and that his character stayed as long as 13 episodes. With video wills and plenty of flashbacks I’m sure he’ll make further appearances in the final two episodes and that’s just perfect for me even as I really marvel at the big … Continue reading →
So I guess if anyone is wondering which SBS dramas had good romantic chemistry it’s slim pickings. Two are from the same drama, one isn’t even a “couple”, and the third looks cute but with such low ratings it’s at most a cult hit. SBS released the nominees for the Best Couple Award for its 2022 Year End Drama Awards. … Continue reading →
Well what have we here. Just as I wrote in the last post that I was not expecting a loveline for this drama despite having two chemistry-laden leads then here comes the first inkling that there will be. And thank you drama gods! The new stills for SBS drama Payback (Law Money) with Lee Seon Kyun and Moon Chae Won … Continue reading →
