Bellissimo! Episode 5 of Vincenzo was a work of art and I’m going to need to learn more compliments in Italian to shower on this drama if it stays this good or perhaps gets even better. The shady and offbeat first 2 episodes are fully behind us and as good as episode 4 was this one is even better. It … Continue reading →
There is casting updates around second half 2021 tvN drama Island, with a new fresh-faced male lead taking over for a prior name associated with the drama. Cha Eun Woo will be the other male lead in Island for the role that was initially courting Im Shi Wan who has clearly passed on it. I’m still unsold on Cha Eun … Continue reading →
The wide net of bully allegations against 20-something Korean actors/actresses and idols has another casting change though not openly admitted. Actor Lee Sin Young, most famous for playing the good looking reticent North Korean soldier in Crash Landing on You, will be leaving upcoming youth romance From as Distance, Green Spring adapted from the same name webtoon. The drama stars … Continue reading →
Every time there is a Lee Seung Gi drama I’m on pins and needles hoping my boy picked well and doesn’t end up with a narrative stinker. His recently premiered tvN drama Mouse comes with high critical pedigree from the screenwriter of God’s Gift: 14 Days and Black and a lofty premise not just on catching a serial killer but … Continue reading →
The rapid downfall of actor Ji Soo has come to a conclusion and there are some wrap up news to report. Ji Soo will be enlisting in the army later this year in October 2021, but he’s serving public service due to physical reasons which of course he looks hale as a horse during filming but whatevs not surprised he’s … Continue reading →
I owe Kim Eun Sook a mea culpa, I thought she wrote the narratively most frivolous time-travel/parallel universe drama with The King: Eternal Monarch but now the crown goes to Sisyphus: The Myth. The other wacko time-travel drama Alice was actually quite good for 2/3rd of the run and then fell apart like a flaming train wreck in the final … Continue reading →
OMG I can’t believe I get another chance to roast Na In Woo, what with Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) ended already and I was hoping he would disappear into the woodworks and then pick ONLY dramas I have zero interest in watching so I never have to write about him again. Alas the drama fates are cruel indeed, to me … Continue reading →
In the span of 2 days the scandal broke, the apology given, and now the fallout path forward decided. I’m glad fans and viewers don’t have to question “did he?” and can now wish the victims of actor Ji Soo‘s pervasive bullying and assault during his school days can get closure and move forward. I believe Ji Soo’s career is … Continue reading →
It feels like Awaken (Night and Day) all over again, with Namgong Min holding down the fort along with a veteran actress and a younger fresh faced actress. Before Awaken even finished airing Namgong Min already signed on for his next drama, the MBC thriller Black Sun where he plays the top operative for the overseas NIS unit. I’m guess … Continue reading →
You know Google Translate. I love it, it helps to quickly get to the essence of what is being said but I know it captures neither nuance and may be prone to make mistakes so I factor that in when I use it. jTBC drama Sisyphus: The Myth is a drama written by Google Translate, I’m sorry but anything else … Continue reading →
With so many bullying from school and idol group allegations lobbed against younger K-stars in the recent month, which I chalk up to when there is finally a crack then the dam breaks. All it takes is one brave person to speak the truth for the others who have suffered bullying and/or assault in the past the courage to speak … Continue reading →
The defrosting appears to have begun with China and South Korean tension that led to basically the soft ban on K-dramas airing on TV and movies in theaters in the Mainland. C-ent is reporting that Song Joong Ki and Kim Tae Ri‘s hit movie Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) is in talks for release in Chinese theaters which makes sense as … Continue reading →
There isn’t much to unpack with episode 6 of River Where the Moon Rises, in fact there just isn’t much “there” at all. Sageuks are about stakes, ever higher stakes and a real sense of inevitable heartbreak and sacrifice. I just don’t feel it with this drama and it’s probably 80% the writing and 20% the directing. I don’t think … Continue reading →
