Woo hoo, I feel like the drama gods are timing things perfectly for me. With Kim Soo Hyun‘s drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay done (sheer amazeballs good), I can now switch years and start charting course for early winter when Song Joong Ki returns to the small screen with Vincenzo. The cast held the first script reading today … Continue reading →
Two decades of Hallyu dramas under the belt leaves me a bit jaded and always guarded for the other shoe to drop, namely a really crappy ending. Not that an ending is unhappy for the OTP, even happy endings have been crappy because it’s unsatisfying in tying up loose ends and giving the characters their proper conclusion. Everything about the … Continue reading →
This weekend’s first drama finale was on SBS with its Fri-Sat drama Backstreet Rookie (Convenience Store Morning Star) ending its 16-episode run on Saturday. The drama got it’s highest rating ever of 9.5% in the second half of the final episode, and the drama averaged 6.6% AGB nationwide. That’s a whole point lower than predecessor The King: Eternal Monarch which … Continue reading →
Whenever there is a tragedy in K-ent there is also netizens wishing there was a cry for help before making those irrevocable decisions. In this case there is a loud, repeated, and direct cry for help from former AOA member Mina (Kwon Min Ah) and yet we’re still seeing her situation deteriorate. Mina accused AOA leader Jimin of emotional and … Continue reading →
I think it’s natural viewers are confused and it’s a bit polarizing in It’s Okay to Not be Okay that female lead Moon Young’s psychotic and sociopathic mom is back, but the writer paved the way from the very beginning so it’s not one of those last minute scares. Moon Young is so messed up she didn’t just grow up … Continue reading →
An article in K-ent is making waves this weekend and just in time for the finale episodes of It’s Okay to Not be Okay. The article (click here) looks into the Netflix investment and expansion into its K-drama offerings starting from 4 years ago, a concerted effort to license dramas to stream and get into the co-production of dramas so … Continue reading →
K-actress Song Hye Kyo has had a quiet 2020 so far, good for her as her 2019 was tumultuous in personal life as 2020 akin to what it has been for the world this year. She’s long since grown out her very short bob from filming 2019 drama Boyfriend (Encounter) and traded the stodgy straight laced outfits of her character … Continue reading →
There’s a lot going on with upcoming KBS drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and it feels like there should be something for a lot of different tastes going in. It’s male lead Lee Jae Wook‘s big promotion to first lead after breaking out last year with Extraordinary You, and a return to rom-com for Go Ara after … Continue reading →
Congrats is in order and honestly I’m even a little envious of how well these two have managed their careers and personal life together. Married K-ent couple actor Jo Jung Seok and singer Gummy welcomed the arrival of their first child this week, a baby girl. Cue the awwwwwwws from here to infinity because Jo Jung Seok is so going … Continue reading →
It’s finale weekend for weekend drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay, and it’s been a fantastic ride even with the rather unorthodox turn in last weekend’s episodes. Since it’s live streamed on Netflix I watch it on TV rather than my computer and oftentimes Mr. Koala and the Koala Teens wander by and watch a few minutes and ask … Continue reading →
Well this is certainly big casting news. On the heels on earlier reporting that top movie actress Jeon Do Yeon is coming back to the small screen soon, now she’s got a leading man and he’s quite the quirky charmer. Ryu Jun Yeol is in talks to join the award winning Jeon Do Yeon in the upcoming drama Disqualified From … Continue reading →
This past weekend I caught up on Flower of Evil, and all that kissing and making out between the OTP aside, the first 2 episodes were merely good. A lot of stage setting and hints but we don’t get to form an emotional connection right off the bat with the characters. Lee Jun Ki‘s Hee Sung is too “acting evil” … Continue reading →
I was really impressed with the young male leads of last year’s cult hit drama Extraordinary You, mainly because I had zero expectations. I’m going into upcoming jTBC drama Number of Cases (Probability) the same way with respect to male lead Ong Seung Woo, he’s so rising profile these days being a Wanna One member and later pursuing his main … Continue reading →
