I have this feeling that upcoming OCN heist baddies-stealing-from-baddies K-drama Player is going to be a hoot. Maybe not straight up comedy but enough intentional and unintentional comedic moments to be worth my while. Starring Song Seung Heon, Krystal, and Lee Si Un, the drama has a ragtag team of thieves stealing hidden ill-gotten gains from criminals, making us root … Continue reading →
I think K-media has it out for Park Seo Joon and/or Park Min Young, at least has hunkered down in an attempt to get the two to admit they were/are dating. It’s disingenuous to say other than as a loyal fan that the two are straight up not dating based on the forthright reporting being done on the two since … Continue reading →
South Koreans love their culturally significant or historically proud events dramatized and coming to theaters next month in September 2018 will be a cinematic take on the famed Seige of Ansi Fortress in 645. The Siege of Ansi was part of the first Tang dynasty attack campaign to invade and conquer Goguryeo, but in this case Ansi held strong through … Continue reading →
Currently airing tvN period drama Mr. Sunshine doesn’t have the international drama fan buzz nearly as much as screenwriter Kim Eun Seok‘s last dramas Goblin, Descendants of the Sun, or even Heirs. But it certainly is bringing in the top ratings as the other predecessors, a slow and steady churn towards potentially setting a new record for cable network tvN. … Continue reading →
There are actually tons of K-dramas produced each year especially with the added competition of cable channels. That means there is too many to honestly keep track of other than for the obsessive completist, which I may have been at one point but no longer. As such I totally thought these two names had never crossed paths before only to … Continue reading →
I don’t know if the production even tried to make Hyun Bin actually look hate-able as the straight up villain antagonist in upcoming K-movie The Negotiation, or it was simply an impossible task. Plenty of top Korean actors have played against grain and done evil roles and actually gave off the veneer of sinister degeneration, but here all I see … Continue reading →
It’s a double leading man treat in upcoming sageuk movie Feng Shui (Myung Dang also known as Grave Site), the third film in a so-called trilogy of superstition films starting with The Face Reader with the second being Marital Harmony (The Princess and the Matchmaker). Feng Shui ells the tale of a court battle and conspiracy over finding the best … Continue reading →
Idol-turned-actor L (Kim Myung Soo) recently wrapped jTBC legal drama Miss Hammurabi, a nice job all-around in picking a successful drama with average ratings of 4.4% and also showing improvement as needed to continue his acting career. I actually found him quite endearing in My Lovely Girl and by all accounts he’s been doing better since then with Ruler: Master … Continue reading →
When the Korean drama flower boy trend started the early days it was Jung Woo Sung in the mid-90s and in the twenty years since that moniker has been attached to plenty of It Boys. I always felt one of the most apropos use was to describe K-actor Song Joong Ki and not in a pejorative all looks no talent … Continue reading →
Dang, looks like the Japanese appetite for the helicopter docs are way higher than expected so a big congrats to the cast and crew of Code Blue. The three season running medical dorama set in a countryside hospital about a crew of ER docs doing helicopter medical assistance duty got a movie treatment this summer and it’s a runaway hit. … Continue reading →
I’m getting more excited for upcoming tvN sageuk romance drama 100 Days My Prince (also known as Hundred Day Husband or Dear Husband of 100 Days) thanks to the beautiful stills being released to whet the appetite. Starring D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) and Nam Ji Hyun, the drama plays up both the court life with the crown prince and the … Continue reading →
I reserved judgment that K-actress Han Ji Min wasn’t just all around awful though it really seemed that way after the debacle that was Hyde, Jekyll, Me. Her character was incredibly annoying as written but her performance exacerbated the problem. In her first drama back since then she chose the do-over fantasy what-if drama Knowing Wife (Familiar Wife) with Ji … Continue reading →
I’m still totally swooning over Park Min Young‘s array of gorgeous outfits in recently finished tvN drama Why Secretary Kim. From chic believable office wear that highlighted her enviable figure to date worthy dresses and even casual home wear that was functional but cute, the wardrobe coordinator for that drama really hit a home run. It’s nice to see Park … Continue reading →
