I see the casting for the upcoming MBC drama Two Cops and deciding to be optimistic I notice the reunion of a bunch of Answer Me alums. Leading lady Hyeri from Answer Me 1988 gets to work with supporting leads Hoya and Lee Si Eun from Answer Me 1997. If all three bring the same level of heart and acting … Continue reading →
As a relative unknown still in the K-drama world, I hope his currently well-received turn in SBS Wed-Thurs drama While You Were Sleeping gives Jung Hae In the exposure he needs to finally bump up one more league in recognition. I’ve been a fan since his first drama Bride of the Century playing Lee Hong Ki’s younger brother, and last … Continue reading →
It feels like the kiddos have headed to the playground and finally there are three adults ready to rumble. This week’s new arrival Wed-Thurs insurance fraud investigation drama Mad Dog on KBS premiered to 5.5% AGB nationwide rating, which is very low but a notable improvement over the 1.9% its predecessor Manhole got on its final episode. The fun is … Continue reading →
Yoon Kyun Sang‘s hot streak shows no sign of abating and good for him to keep up the consistent work offers. This year he’s done sageuk Rebel: The Thief Who Stole the People and is currently doing another season of variety show Three Meals a Day with his veteran hyungs Eric and Lee Seo Jin. He was reportedly mulling over … Continue reading →
There is such an extreme lack of poster making talent that went into premiering this Wednesday KBS drama Mad Dog I’m actually interested in checking it out now. The drama posters look like it was made by a middle schooler learning photoshop and is all the more entertaining because of it. How else to sell a drama about an insurance … Continue reading →
There’s been interesting movement in the Mon-Tues time slot competition and in a way I didn’t expect. The second episode airing of KBS legal drama Witch’s Court garnered 9.5% AGB nationwide ratings, putting it basically neck-to-neck with ratings lead Temperature of Love on SBS which got 8.8% and 10.3% respectively for episodes 15 and 16. MBC preempted new arrival 20th … Continue reading →
The somnambulant progress of SBS Mon-Tues drama Temperature of Love is about to get a much needed but likely too brief sizzle shot. Actress Park Shin Hye will be making a cameo appearance in the drama as a favor to screenwriter Ha Myung Hee after they worked on the highly rated Doctors together last year. Park Shin Hye will be rearranging … Continue reading →
I thought the K-actresses baby juggernaut train of 2017 was over as the babies have started to arrive and there are plenty of known buns in the over nearly delivery. Looks like we have a late passenger on the train but there’s still plenty of room for Kim Ha Neul to announce that she’s expecting her first child with her … Continue reading →
Two new Mon-Tues dramas are here and neither appear to make a strong splash and definitely nowhere near contending with time slot leader Temperature of Love. Witches Court on KBS nearly doubled the ratings at 6.6% over MBC‘s 20th Century Boy and Girl which aired two hours of new episodes to make up for the preemption last week. 20th Century … Continue reading →
I joked recently that Lee Jun Ki and Moon Chae Won achieved freedom after they wrapped tvN Wed-Thurs drama Criminal Minds, because the K-version was so mediocre and a big disappointment vis-a-vis the talented cast and copious amounts of money and publicity tossed at it. The network gets to reset this week with the start of Avengers Social Club (Buamdong … Continue reading →
An end of a K-pop era is here and I’m not sure if the timing was this perfect by chance or by design. SM Entertainment announced that three members of the current eight member girl idol group Girl’s Generation will not be renewing their contracts with the agency. Sooyoung, Seohyun, and Tiffany have elected to move on to different agencies, … Continue reading →
I’m happy that K-actress Moon Geun Young is all recovered after her medical scare and hospitalization earlier this year, and even happier that her return to work comes with a finished project ready to premiere. Promos are ramping up for psychological thriller movie Glass Garden, which Moon Geun Young filmed last year and has been selected as the opening night … Continue reading →
With the Answer Me series going successively earlier in time it’s easy to forget that the first installment did a relatively recent nostalgia trip to 1997. Upcoming KBS Fri-Sat drama Go Back Spouses will return to that era of the late 90’s as unhappily married lead characters played by Son Ho Joon and Jang Nara time-travel back to 1999 when … Continue reading →
