I wonder how much harder it is for post-marriage and now daddy Ji Sung to play the titular role in upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Defendant. Faced with with calamity of going from a happy husband and father to the chief suspect in the murder of his wife and daughter, Ji Sung’s prosecutor turned defendant must navigate both the legal landmines from … Continue reading →
K-dramas love extremes, from super poor heroines landing her cinderella dream man to gangster girl becoming doctor, so it’s no surprise to see the upcoming dichotomy of teeny tiny Park Bo Young as a woman with super strength. Upcoming jTBC drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon wants us to believe that in the petite package of Park Bo Young resides … Continue reading →
The new year 2017 has settled in now for two weeks and things appear to be off to a stable start. For once Dispatch didn’t break a major couple dating news on New Year’s Day, and so far no scandals to speak of other than an attention craving former idol spamming her SNS to annoy fuddy duddy Koreans and maybe … Continue reading →
It feels like every country I sorta keep up with news on had a crazy news year in 2016 whether entertainment or beyond all the way into the morass of politics. I’m glad the year is over and 2017 will hopefully reset in a more positive way. To commemorate all the happenings in Chinese entertainment last year, the most accurate … Continue reading →
Welp, now this is what I call a cliffhanger, and double one at that with tvN not airing episode 14 of Goblin this Saturday and instead making the world wait an entire week to see what happens next. My only prayer is that Kim Eun Sook does not pull another Secret Garden, when the cliffhanger for the epic episode 18 … Continue reading →
Understated appears the direction for the costume designing of this drama, aside from the ornate toppers on the hair. Official drama posters and new stills are out for period C-drama Lost Love in Times (Zui Ling Long), pairing up very popular actor Liu Shi Shi and William Chan in a first time collaboration for both. Shi Shi plays dual roles, … Continue reading →
I’m really curious about how newlywed stars Gu Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun will come across in the hands of variety maestro Na PD. He’s capable of turning the most mundane situations into ones of quiet interest, making three meals a day in a remote location, so now he seems to be combining various past elements together for the … Continue reading →
I’ll go out on on a limb and share that I’m only hanging with Legend of the Blue Sea to see evil step-mommy and spineless selfish sonny get their comeuppance and the handcuffs of justice served with a side of slaps. This is gender-reversed Cinderella with a twist courtesy of drugs and a needle rather than waiting for clueless and cruel … Continue reading →
The colors and cinematography continue to dazzle and impress in the new previews and drama posters for tvN romance Tomorrow With You. I still think it’s inspired if not a direct launch off from The Time-traveler’s Wife, but hopefully with a less fatalistic ending, but then again it’s fairly expected due to K-drama penchant for grand gestures to make a … Continue reading →
Of the upcoming Wed-Thurs K-dramas, I’m most keen to check out Chief Kim on KBS, taking over on January 25th after Oh My Geum Bi ends this week followed by a short drama Naked Fireman. Missing 9 will depend on how the drama navigates the suspense element where the viewer is told the ending and work backwards to trace how … Continue reading →
Good news and bad news for Goblin fans – the drama is ending next weekend and this weekend’s episodes will be halved so be prepared for some major anxiety to come. tvN has announced that this weekend’s episode 14 airing on Saturday will be preempted until the following Friday, and then the final two episodes 15 and 16 will air … Continue reading →
Many of the 2017 K-dramas were announced in late 2016, and a few even starting filming last year already. C-netizens are also taking stock of the offerings soon to come and there was a recent poll showing which K-dramas are most anticipated there. Topping the list is While You Were Sleeping with Lee Jong Seok and Suzy, two popular K-stars … Continue reading →
Everything feels connected in Goblin in ways both substantive and logical within its fantasy narrative. Supporting characters tug at the heartstrings or make one seethe with anger, and guest starring roles are memorable and meaningful. The leads have the lions share of screen time but long after this drama is over I will also remember all the seemingly minor characters … Continue reading →
