I’m pretty conflicted about upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Defendant. On one had it stars the incredibly magnetic Ji Sung, but then it also stars the bland as white bread Yuri of SNSD as his leading lady. He’s already had one SBS misfire with this year’s Entertainer, which proved that Hyeri is either a one hit wonder or simply ably directed … Continue reading →
The ebb and flow of Legend of the Blue Sea resembles the exquisite motions of Jeon Ji Hyun‘s mermaid swimming, all undulating softness with a hint of held breath. The drama continues to win its Wed-Thurs time slot but shows no legs of ever breaking 20% ratings, in fact this week’s episode 13 dropped a bit to just 16% and … Continue reading →
There’s a sudden casting shakeup over at KBS mere days after casting confirmation for upcoming weekend drama came out. Weekend drama Father is Strange (Dad is Weird) just got its leading lady Kim So Yeon abruptly, with her side citing personal reasons for bowing out of this family ensemble drama. The production is scrambling to recast her role but the … Continue reading →
There are so many details I love about Goblin, this is a one drama that I will thoroughly enjoy watching again to soak up the subtleties so long as the second half remains as good as the first. Kim Eun Sook has written plenty of 20 episode dramas but Goblin will be a 16 episode drama like her last work … Continue reading →
This is totally the attack of the Kim Eun Sook leading men, and I mean attack in a conquering way where these two male leads joined together would be doubly hard to resist the drama. Next year’s sci-fi drama City of Stars has extended an offer to Jang Dong Gun to join the offer out to Hyun Bin to pair … Continue reading →
I’ll take one Christmas wrapped Yoo Seung Ho please, and if I can’t then these summer pictures from The Star pictorial will do. 2016 was a solid year for Yoo Seung Ho, the second full year since his military discharge at the end of 2014. This year he started off with SBS drama Remember: Son’s War, in the middle of … Continue reading →
Recent years have had no shortage of small and big screen bromances with male leads sometimes stealing the show from even the central OTP romance. It proffers the guys being guys camaraderie tinged with wink wink emotional connection, the best of the bromance makes the viewer believe it extends to real life much like the best onscreen romances spawn fan … Continue reading →
Next year in 2017 will be interesting to see if SBS can continue it’s currently medical drama winning streak on Mon-Tue without that genre’s drama on the schedule. The line up is out for the first half of next year following the end of Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim. First is Defendant with Ji Sung, Yuri, and Eom Ki Joon about … Continue reading →
The insane and unforgiving K-netizen standards strikes again, this time taking down a teenager acting like a teenager in ways that hurt no one. Growing up former child actress Kim Yoo Jung has been hospitalized for the second time in a week after collapsing from stressed induced shock after the press conference promoting the upcoming K-movie Because I Love You. … Continue reading →
The first baby in the recent great baby watch of Taiwan and Chinese entertainment arrived last week as Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao welcomed their first born son. Next up on the gestational schedule is Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo, but before their baby arrives the newlywed couple got to celebrate another big event together. Wallace turned 37 years old … Continue reading →
It’s clear C-actor Hu Ge has his eyes on a prize bigger than popularity and easy appeal as he’s about to follow up multiple hit dramas from recent years with a turn to the dark side. Hu Ge has been playing sweet male lead characters from his debut days and in recent years veered into the upstanding calculating type in … Continue reading →
Not every adaptation is equal but it hurts even more for a beloved story to get stuck with a terrible live-action version. Japan did an amazing job with the Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie series and now there’s another similar work coming in Summer of 2017 that looks promising so far thanks to a fan approved casting. The live-action Gintama (literal … Continue reading →
This month of December has been Hyun Bin heavy in terms of news and promotions. His new movie Confidential Assignment (Korean title Cooperation) with Yoo Hae Jin is out and he’s in a new relationship with K-actress Kang Sora. His agency has made a statement that Hyun Bin is considering many drama and film offers for 2017 and plans to do … Continue reading →
