A big thanks to MBC for starting off the year end drama awards procession off right. The network was first of the big three to hold it’s drama awards and this year managed to not screw things up or piss audiences off. Ji Sung walked home with the Daesang (Grand Prize), capping off on a high note what has been … Continue reading →
Count me in among the group of Kim Soo Hyun fans who are happy that the insane hype around him is slowing down. Even if he’s still crazy popular in Korea and overseas, the intense scrutiny over his next project after the astronomical success of You From Another Star was basically setting him up to not reach anyone’s expectations. Except … Continue reading →
The second teaser for Descendants of the Sun is here, hot on the heels of the first teaser a few days earlier. The most that can be said is that the theme is consistent – once again the audience is treated to a random scene between leads Song Joong Ki as a soldier and Song Hye Kyo as a doctor, … Continue reading →
The holiday season is the perfect time to double down on the warm and fuzzy feels by adding on the happy occasion. Taiwanese stars Sunny Lin and Dominique Tsai just held a gorgeous wedding Down Under, and now Chinese stars Zhang Zi Yi and Wang Feng had their own good news arrive in sunny and cold SoCal. The engaged stars … Continue reading →
I’m perplexed by perennial prime time ratings loser KBS, not because it keeps failing to win audiences over, but by how it chooses to schedule the types of dramas that have proven to have a limited appeal. I can count on one hand how many teen and school-based dramas have succeeded in recent years, and will need hands and feet … Continue reading →
I love exquisite and personally reflected weddings, and both were in plenty supply at the after Christmas nuptials of Taiwanese stars Sunny Wang and Dominique Tsai. The wedding took place in Australia where Dominique is from, and went for a rustic elegant feel at a countryside manor complete with outdoor wedding and a custom greenhouse built for the reception. The … Continue reading →
The ladies are ready for their grand debuts for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama One More Happy Ending. The central premise of the story is on mature adults finding love again after divorce, with a few finding love even without being divorced, but the characters will be interaction in core friendship units starting with the four leading ladies playing tight knit … Continue reading →
At a scheduled 15 episodes, and all pre-filmed in advance, TW-drama Marry Me or Not has the best pacing of any drama I’ve watched all year. There is no lagging or flagging as the story goes from a stroll to a brisk walk in a natural pace that has the events and emotions building fluidly. Episode 9 continued with the … Continue reading →
I’ve been ignoring soon to end SETTV drama Love Cuisine because it pains me so, the drama is absymally dull and the second drama in a row to waste my beloved Lego Lee. Thank god it’s ending soon, and up next is a drama that seems promising by virtue of having no big name cast members and a fresher idea. … Continue reading →
You know how all signs points to something most likely going to suck, but the love is just too strong to pass it by without having a glance. That’s how I feel about upcoming K-drama Moon Lovers, the K-adaptation of popular C-novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step). Starting from the inane name change, the whole thing reeks … Continue reading →
When a story is about fantasy realms with gods and reincarnation, it doesn’t hurt to cast as close as can be to the visual description in the novel. That’s the case with the upcoming highly anticipated by fans adaptation of the period fantasy novel Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms by writer Tang Qi Gong Zi. Starring reknowned … Continue reading →
C-dramas do everything fast and that includes casting and spoilers. Hot on the heels of news that Hallyu actor Lee Jong Seok was going to headline upcoming Korean-Chinese co-production C-drama Emerald Jade Lover, now comes the spoiler leak that his leading lady will be C-actress Zheng Shuang. I have a hard time finishing any Zheng Shuang drama, but honestly I … Continue reading →
The end of the year is here and that means the January K-dramas are just around the corner. jTBC‘s upcoming romance drama Madame Antoine doesn’t premiere until towards the end of January on the 22nd, but the drama has been doing a swell job of releasing posters and pictures, and this week dropped the first teaser preview. Starring Han Ye … Continue reading →
