The first drama poster for Cheese in the Trap is an effortless breath of fresh air. Looking at it makes me feel cleansed, like so much manufactured connections and narrative tropes are washed away in the candid snap of leads Park Hae Jin and Kim Go Eun in a moment of drama production joy. The drama was followed closely during … Continue reading →
There’s a new latest and maybe not so greatest news about next year 2016’s K-drama Arbitrarily Fond. I have no idea what’s going on behind the scenes but this is one slippery eel in terms of locking down a time slot. Of course when it comes to K-dramas, stuff like casting, network, and time slot are all subject to constant … Continue reading →
Ji Chang Wook‘s entry into the Chinese entertainment market will be a one-two punch this November. He’s releasing an album this month followed by a multi-city tour, and while he’s at it he’ll also be filming an upcoming C-drama called My Male God. The drama news has been covered already but today comes the first official pictures from the production … Continue reading →
I’m not getting a particularly memorable takeaway with any of the teasers and stills for upcoming KBS Mon-Tues drama Oh My Venus. I’m still happiest with the casting of leads So Ji Sub and Shin Mina along with the drama changed its title from the overly broad and can have way too many connotations depending on usage and tone Oh … Continue reading →
I wrote about this upcoming drama a month ago and really found the premise promising. SBS bought the rights to Japanese novel Tsubakiyama Kacho no Nanokakan (Director Tsubakiyama’s 7 Days Time) by writer Asada Jiro. There is already one onscreen adaptation of the novel, the J-movie of the same name in released in 2006, so it”ll be a nice change of … Continue reading →
The line-up for KBS 2016 dramas is pretty jam packed already, with high profile dramas Descendants of the Sun and Arbitrarily Fondly leading the media coverage. That doesn’t mean the network isn’t continuing to ready additional dramas that has the hallmarks of being a potential hit, and one way is to go back to work with screenwriters and PDs who … Continue reading →
I’ve always thought Go Ara was one of the prettiest Korean actresses around, and the reason I’m mostly indifferent to her is solely because of encountering her probably too early in her career when her acting was pretty darn bad. If I saw her first through Answer Me 1994, I would probably reverse my opinion of her – Go Ara … Continue reading →
MBC is currently winning the Wed-Thurs ratings battle thanks to She Was Pretty, a position it rose to occupy after the last ratings winner SBS‘s Yongpal wrapped up but was unable to keep the audience with The Village (Achiara’s Secret). Coming up after She Was Pretty is Sweet Savage Family, a drama adaptation of the hit K-movie Marrying the Mafia. I’m … Continue reading →
Taiwan got a double dose of Hallyu candy this week, with Song Seung Heon and Yoona both making short but sweet stops on the island. This probably isn’t all that newsworthy other than I like them both and they happen to be looking exceptionally pretty at their respective events. Yoona was there for a H:Connect event as a brand spokesmodel, … Continue reading →
I never get tired of checking in on Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu, the now married costars who were the heart and soul of why the C-drama adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step) was as unexpectedly good as it turned out. Compared to the extravagant weddings of fellow celebs like Huang Xiaoming–Angelababy or Jay Chou–Hannah … Continue reading →
Striking while the iron is hot is never a bad thing, especially in the fickle and short attention span world of entertainment. That’s why I’m not surprised to hear that Park Seo Joon is already in talks for another drama despite his currently drama She Was Pretty not even done airing yet. Looks like this particular drama production is looking … Continue reading →
Consider me pleasantly pleased with everything I’ve seen so far from upcoming sageuk movie The Sound of a Flower (Dorihwaga). Starring Suzy and Ryu Seung Ryung, the movie chronicles the life of the real first female pansori singer Jin Chae Sun, and her mentor as well as pansori legend Shin Jae Hyo. It’s basically the movie and pansori version of … Continue reading →
I’m so happy that Lee Jun Ki is doing the Hollywood movie Resident Evil 6 with Milla Jovovich, even if the movie is yet another forgettable shoot ’em up blockbuster. He looks genuinely thrilled and happy from all the pictures he’s been posting from the set down in South America, sometimes an actor just wants to have some fun and … Continue reading →
