Thanks to TV Report running an article this week about the Korean actor male gods returning to drama land this fall, specifically naming five profile actors in So Ji Sub, Jang Hyuk. Song Joong Ki, Park Hae Jin, and Song Seung Heon, it got me thinking of which actor I was personally most interested in checking out. It’s hands down … Continue reading →
I totally forgot about this in development drama, and mostly thought it went to die an ignominious death at the grave where dramas that never get off the ground commit seppuku. Turns out KBS has retained multiple personality medical drama Dr. Frankenstein in its back pocket this whole time and is now ready to revive the whole thing with a fresh coat … Continue reading →
There weren’t a lot of Korean dramas or entertainers that made it onto the just released short list of nominees for this year’s 10th annual Seoul International Drama Awards, which fetes television programs from around the world in addition to homegrown K-dramas. The most notable congrats goes to the sole acting talent to make cut, with Ji Sung landing a Best Actor … Continue reading →
Better late than never is what went through my mind at this past weekend’s press conference for Jerry Yan‘s upcoming new drama My Best Ex-boyfriend. The feeling isn’t caused by Jerry coming back with a new drama but what he finally admitted to during the media question session. When asked about how he deals with his exes and specifically about … Continue reading →
I guess credit has to be given to Korean outdoor wear brand Millet for batting two-out-of-two for this year’s CF campaigns. Too bad it’s two-out-of-two in striking out miserably, made all the worse by landing two fantastic brand models in Lee Jong Seok and Park Shin Hye who have proven chemistry with each other and as models. For the early … Continue reading →
I could be jumping the gun since the movie doesn’t premiere until less than two weeks from now on August 13th, but it’s like picking a good horse at the race track in anticipating that there will be breakout stars a-coming from upcoming TW-movie Our Times (我的少女時代 The Era of My Young Girl Days). Starring Vivian Sung, Darren Wang, and Dino … Continue reading →
There is no amount of praying or hand-wringing that can change this particular casting, so I’m going to take my own advice with a wait and see approach. Filming has started for upcoming tvN drama Answer Me 1988, the third entry in the popular trendy Answer Me series following the original 1997 version and the subsequent 1994 take. One can argue … Continue reading →
Filming is now underway for upcoming MBC Wed-Thurs drama She Was Pretty, to follow the currently airing fantasy vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night. MBC has actually been having a decent year in that time slot, with buzzy dramas like Kill Me Heal Me and Angry Mom, and even dramas that disappointed like Warm and Cozy and Scholar have … Continue reading →
This news is totally an “excuse me but come again?” reaction goldmine, but also may have a secondary benefit of assuaging the disappointed and/or angry feelings of certain drama fans watching a K-drama remake of a popular TW-drama. Korean and Chinese news is off with a bang this Monday with reports that K-actress Ha Ji Won is categorically denying rumors … Continue reading →
It used to be that stars denied relationship rumors to the death, even in the face of photographic evidence to the contrary. The last few years has seen a seismic shift with Chinese and Taiwanese stars admitting to relationships and even outing themselves. The advent of social media likely makes it even harder to keep romance away from the public … Continue reading →
Green is a color best associated with concepts of life, renewal, and positive energy, so what better way to promote upcoming ahjumma returning to college drama Second Time Twenty Years Old than with a background of a rich green lawn. I wouldn’t say tvN is impressive or original with the official drama posters, nor is it visually stunning enough to … Continue reading →
I hope the Park Hyung Sik lovefest continues with the current drama viewers affection for his acting forays. I also hope he continues with the smart role selections that have helped pave his acting jaunts, from supporting role in Heirs to younger generation main lead in weekend family drama What’s With This Family and onwards to second male lead of … Continue reading →
This might not interest most folks but fans of Yoon Eun Hye will be happy to see her finally back on the small screen. Even if the small screen program she’s on is in China rather than picking a Korean drama, at least she’s doing what she loves in fashion design by joining the five female star line up for … Continue reading →
