With winter wrapping up, spring-like warm weather is a-coming and so are two new prime time K-dramas. To save me the hassle of doing separate posts on them, MBC‘s upcoming 50-episode long sageuk Splendid Politics (Hwajung) held its first cast script reading on the same week as SBS‘s trendy The Girl Who Sees Smells (formerly known as Sensory Couple but … Continue reading →
I don’t know what magic casting wand the production waved but the upcoming C-version of We Got Married just got interesting thanks to totally random pairings. Just as the original MBC Korean WGM is undergoing a structure change and a cast refresh, the C-version is heading into production right on schedule for an April premiere. The show will be called … Continue reading →
Whenever I see a picture of smiling Jang Nara it also brings a smile to my face. She may not be an actress I love but she’s always watchable in all her performances. Call it a combination of effortless charm with baby-faced looks in a tasty match. She did two back-to-back MBC dramas last year with Fated to Love You … Continue reading →
I see what SBS is doing here, releasing the casting news this early just to distract everyone from the disaster that is Hyde, Jekyll, Me. Even worse is doing so via Hyun Bin‘s equally famous and beloved Secret Garden costar Ha Ji Won, almost like rubbing salt on my already open wound. The K-version of the hit Taiwan drama In Time … Continue reading →
If there is a silver lining to Hyde, Jekyll, Me, the drama writing is doing a damn good job of making me unable to find it, find the hope that it will somehow get its act together. The likelihood of something clicking so late in the game is slim, I know that, but for the love of Hyun Bin I’ve … Continue reading →
I’m sooooo happy there is finally an end date in sight for Friday night SETTV idol drama Aim High. The title is just ripe for skewering considering it did the opposite of that, calling it Aim So Low or Aim High and Fall Flat on Your Face would be more apt. Even my beloved Lego Lee couldn’t make me stay … Continue reading →
These two give me back a little bit of faith in the celebrity marriage, and really in the idea of marriage as support and compromise. Ji Sung has been busy lately, and I mean real busy what with playing 7 different characters in the currently airing Kill Me Heal Me. A live-filmed K-drama is basically 3 months of living on the … Continue reading →
I’m not particularly sad about this news but there are sure to be tons of sad fans out there now that it’s confirmed Jaejoong will be enlisting for his mandatory military service. With Jaejoong heading off, it’s only a matter of time before his close-in-age JYJ mates Yoochun and Junsu also hie off to become army rangers for two years. … Continue reading →
What can I say about this episode 13 of Hyde, Jekyll, Me? If the screenwriter was aiming for a “how low can I go” race to the bottom, then congrats on succeeding to one-up the drama’s stupidity level with yet another whiz bang episode of underwhelming crap. I’m basically going to treat this recap endeavor as taking one for the … Continue reading →
Currently MBC‘s Mon-Tues fusion sageuk Shine or Go Crazy is comfortably leading the ratings for its time slot, but fifty episode long sageuks don’t just materialize out of thin air so all eyes are on followup drama Splendid Politics (Hwajung, or could be called Princess Jungmyung). Usually MBC does its long sageuk earlier in the year but Splendid Politics won’t … Continue reading →
It’s no surprise that the promos for upcoming MBC drama Angry Mom have been so Kim Hee Sun centric this far. She’s the titular angry mom in the drama title, but the more apt description ought to be protective empowered mom. I don’t mind that she takes matters into her owns when she finds out kids have been bullying her … Continue reading →
Another week and another two episodes of Hyde, Jekyll, Me. I actually lost count of where the drama was currently at and needed to be reminded that the next episode coming up is 13. The written and video previews are out, along with two sets of drama stills. One shows a conversation scene between Seo Jin and Ha Na, a development … Continue reading →
The annual Forbes magazine ranking of the top 40 Korean celebrities has just been released, fresh out of the oven and piping hot for perusal. As always, try not to get too worked up if your favorite oppa/unni or bias didn’t make the top 40 this year, it’s just one ranking albeit a very influential one that has a lot of … Continue reading →
