The new Sunday night SETTV drama premiered this past weekend and I actually was interested enough by the previews to check it out. The hilariously named King Flower (whut?) better known as 金大花的華麗冒險 (Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure) didn’t have the ratings lure in Roy Qiu so its premiere episode was the nightly leader but dropped down to 1.26 from … Continue reading →
Now that Miss Rose is finally over, SETTV is wasting no time ushering in its next Sunday night idol drama 金大花的華麗冒險 (literal title Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure, but I think its English title will be Replacement Princess or Substitute Princess based on its original drama title). Starring Nikki Hsieh, James Wen, Chris Wu, Chao Chun Ya, Yao Yao (Guo … Continue reading →
Now that Miss Rose is confirmed to end the following Sunday, I’ve been expecting some news on its following up drama and SETTV does not disappoint. The drama did have a name change from Replacement Princess to a drama that doesn’t have an English title yet but the literal translation is Jin Da Hua’s Extravagant Adventure (金大花的華麗冒險). I’ll be looking … Continue reading →
This is quite a treat for those TW-drama watchers who are hoping to see some big drama stars all gathered in one place. SETTV, still the leader this year in ratings among the five big channels (CTS, CTV, GTV, and FTV), held an end of the year party and award’s banquet for all the stars of its 2012 dramas. The … Continue reading →
Wahhhh, I love Chris Wu and I love Christmas trees and I love Open Chan and Please Chan! Those of you from Taiwan are probably familiar with the darling mascots of 7-11, starting with Open Chan, dog who comes from the Open planet and who loves to eat onigiri (height is four onigiri’s tall and weighs two pineapples) and Please … Continue reading →
Finally! Miss Screw can finally get married now, and hopefully this means Miss Rose can stop dithering and end on a high note to wrap up what was a truly enjoyable ride until recently. With SETTV wanting Sonia Sui to return to dramas with the MR follow up drama Replacement Princess, the network had to scramble when Sonia declined the … Continue reading →
TTV has had a stronghold on the Friday night time slot in TW-dramas for quite some time. Ever since The Fierce Wife was a blockbuster, many of its dramas get lots of publicity even when the ratings aren’t that robust, like Ex-Boyfriend which had an ending that stunned the viewers. With In Between wrapping up in a week, coming up is … Continue reading →
I’m still watching the daily drama Inborn Pair (literal title True Love Looks for Trouble), a breezy and sweet contract marriage confection with warm family moments and a great steady pace. While I’m not interested in the secondary characters beyond the delightful OTP played by Annie Chen as Song Yi Jie and Chris Wang as Ke Wei Xiang, the gradually … Continue reading →
With AKP fully branching out from K-dramas to TW-dramas in recent weeks, culminating in my decision to recap Sunny Happiness, I think it’s fitting to devote a post to a collection of Taiwan actors who breathe life into dramas and movies from that region of the world. I’ll be giving my personal impressions of these actors, as well as a … Continue reading →
One of the more higher profile Taiwan dramas of 2010 has passed the mid-way mark in its airing. Zhong Wu Yen aired episode 11 yesterday, and whether the drama ends up being 14, 17, or 21 episodes (TW dramas lengths are notoriously hard to pinpoint), it has aired more than enough for me to make a substantive assessment of its … Continue reading →
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, to pimp out a drama that has only aired one episode, and has the possibility of turning into an epic fail fest, simply by virtue of it being a TW-drama.
