Filming has started for the big-budget and big-cast upcoming period C-drama Wu Shen Zhao Zi Long with a working English title of God of War Zhao Yun. The drama made headlines last month for the casting of SNSD member Yoona as the female lead, making her first foray into the Chinese market and doing it in a big way. She’s … Continue reading →
This is definitely one of the most bizarre bibimbap casting mashups I’ve ever come across. I can’t definitively say whether the end product will be good or bad, but my prediction is hot mess with tons of eye candy. Yoona of SNSD will be following in the footsteps of many of her Korean acting brethren and heading over to Mainland … Continue reading →
Writing about celebs physical appearance is part and parcel of the entertainment package. It’s the superficial part for sure, but it’s hard to not to notice when a celeb looks different, whether from natural weight loss/gain or surgical enhancement. The more famous a celeb, the more even a minor tweak will be commented upon whether good or bad. This year … Continue reading →
I was probably on a happy deserted island all by myself when the news broke of the casting of Yoona as Joo Won‘s leading lady in the K-remake of Nodame Cantabile. I honestly thought neither of them were the perfect fit so might as well go with the flow since I like her well enough after Prime Minister and I and … Continue reading →
With critically acclaimed young actress Shim Eun Kyung declining the leading lady role for the upcoming Fall K-adaptation of Nodame Cantabile, the plum role was up for grabs and I’ve even postulated a handful of young actresses that are either suitable or likely to fall on the network’s radar when it comes time to cast. Joo Won has already been … Continue reading →
Oh what one drama can do to render a change of opinion in either good or bad ways. Yoona of SNSD won be over in Prime Minister and I and that’s that. It’s not clear if my fondness and goodwill for her will remain if she slides backward in future acting projects, but for now it’s without reservation that I … Continue reading →
Being disappointed with the process by which Prime Minister and I wrapped up doesn’t mean I’ve erased all my love for this drama. It probably just downgrades the feeling to like very much, which in the grander scheme of things is pretty hefty praise for it considering the dearth of solid rom-coms in years. I get the tendency to see … Continue reading →
I’m fully aware of the writing blips in the last few episodes of Prime Minister and I but I still love this drama to pieces. The return of the first wife was planned from the beginning so it doesn’t feel like railroading, and ultimately Da Jung’s noble idiocy won’t have any lasting repercussions since no one buys her crock of … Continue reading →
Even with the hint of makjang in Prime Minister and I with the reveal that the male lead’s first wife isn’t deader than a doornail like we all thought, I’m still ridiculously pleased with this drama. It’s just my kind of rom-com with funny that doesn’t overstay its welcome, romance that unfolds naturally without too much quippy banter, and a … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to how into the drama I am that when I see Yoon Si Yoon hugging Yoona in the latest stills for Prime Minister and I, I started screaming “get your hands off her, you jackass!” before realizing I was yelling at my baby Si Yoon. His character Kang In Ho is turning into an easy target to … Continue reading →
Last year on New Year’s day of 2013, K-ent was rocked with the stunning and out-of-nowhere news that Hallyu superstar and abtastic Rain was dating brainy A-list actress Kim Tae Hee. It really was a WTF moment to hear the news, not that I wasn’t happy for them but the general “where the heck did this come from” confusion. I … Continue reading →
It’s time for the KBS 2013 Drama Awards and this one was once again a mixed bag. I was expecting the Daesang to go to Lee Bo Young since she headlined the biggest ratings drama of the year with My Daughter Seo Young for KBS but its airing dates may have worked against it since it started in September of … Continue reading →
It’s Monday which means I don’t need to recap Marry Him If You Dare anymore. Huzzah! It also means Prime Minister and I is finally here and I’m excited but not terribly pumped up. My gut tells me I’ll enjoy it right off the bat which means better keep the eagerness under wraps for now and unleash it after the … Continue reading →
