The romance and rom-com spate of K-dramas to start 2022 ended last month but this month in May comes Woori the Virgin, which is a remake of Jane the Virgin which started as a Venezualan telenovela which became a popular US show and is now getting the Korean take. I loved the first set of official posters, so pretty and … Continue reading →

The back-to-back-to-back-to-back spate of sageuks in K-ent in 2021 went on a pause after The Red Sleeve Cuff ended, and that was preceded by The King’s Affection, Lovers of the Red Sky, and River Where the Moon Rises. All four had a more youthful bent but now a new darker sageuk is here with KBS premiering Red Single Heart (Bloody … Continue reading →

The MBC Fri-Sat night fantasy grim reapers suicide prevention squad drama Tomorrow is getting headlines for all the wrong reasons, and the most fascinating thing is that this drama should work but isn’t working at all to such a noticeable degree it’s making pundit ponder what went wrong. There is a Chinese saying that the elbow point inward, and it means that a person will tend to support/favor those closest to him/her and it usually means family. I can absolutely accept and understand why Park Bo Gum may not work for everyone, he’s not exactly polarizing but there can be a whiff of try hard with him. But I’m watching Winning Time these past few weeks, partly cuz I bleed purple and gold and partly cuz Mr. Koala is addicted (and I tolerate the wildly dramatized versions … Continue reading →
There is a lot of flower motifs in this latest pictorial featuring top singer-actress IU in the May 2022 edition of Vogue Korea, but also exceptionally intricate nail art and lots and lots of close up. I’m guess it’s either a lipstick and/or jewelry theme spread and I’m leaning towards lipstick because of how much IU’s face is featured with … Continue reading →
Usually fashion events in K-ent have a handful of stars attending, if I see six or more then it’s a solid event but this weekend’s Christian Dior soiree in Seoul had easily a dozen probably more big name and popular stars in attendance for a full fete. There were actual drama reunions such as Suzy and Nam Joo Hyuk, so … Continue reading →

I’m ambivalent towards when K-romances throw in a death, murder, mystery angle, not that it can’t work or that I’ve never liked one before, it’s just not my favorite two things to combine together. From The Girl Who Sees Smells to Suspicious Partner to When the Camellia Blooms, now we’re getting tvN early summer drama Link: Eat, Love, Die and … Continue reading →
