It’s going to be awhile longer until currently filming TW-drama Marry Me, or Not hits the airwaves. The cast has been filming since February and should be wrapping up soon, but the drama looks to get on the TTV schedule sometime in late 2015, my estimate is October at the earliest. I’m patient when it comes to waiting for quality fare … Continue reading →
I’m not gonna lie or ignore the fact that the last few episodes of TW-drama Someone Like You has basically devolved into a narrative farce. There is heart failure, car accidents, and even multiple comas. But the strange thing is that my affection for this little drama that could remains intact, it’s so earnest and sweet, wanting to keep chugging … Continue reading →
With SETTV wrapping up Someone Like You (Hearing Happiness) in three weeks at the end of May, I was wondering when the network would trot out the leads of the follow up drama and who it might be. The curtains have been pulled back now and the result could be a lot worse – up next for SETTV Sunday nights … Continue reading →
The casting wand has waved and the two lucky C-stars to land the coveted leads of the long awaited drama adaptation of the popular Fei Wo Si Cun penned period novel is Hawick Lau and Zheng Shuang. Prolific Chinese novelist Fei Wo Si Cun has had many novels adapted into hit C-dramas but readers have been angling for this particular … Continue reading →
With the release of the first official trailer, I think it’s safe to expect supremely dorky rather than totally awesome with upcoming period C-drama God of War Zhao Zhi Long. Folks were naturally skeptical about Korean idol-actress Yoona being cast as a period C-beauty, but the trailer reveals that she’s far from the only one miscast. Aside from supporting female … Continue reading →
It’s been a few months since I watched C-drama My Sunshine (based on the novel Silent Separation 何以笙箫默 He Yi Sheng Xiao Mo) and so far nothing else this year out of China has been as satisfying. It’s not a great drama by any means, but having read the source novel there is a really addicting aspect of the central romance … Continue reading →
Just because I like an actor and actress individually never guarantees they would make a stellar onscreen coupling. Even if they do generate chemistry onscreen, it can be wasted in a terrible story and lead to even more teeth gnashing for me than if they just failed to ignite on contact. That’s why I always remember to say a word … Continue reading →
The older I get the more nostalgic I am, a sentiment that applies to dramas as well. Older dramas I loved appear even more wonderful through the rear view mirror, and I have a super soft spot for reunions and whatnots, even if it’s something that I didn’t watch the first time around. The cast of the 2010 hit SETTV … Continue reading →
Watching episode 15 of Someone Like You totally makes me hum the chorus from Walk the Moon’s current hit song “Shut Up and Dance”, except I keep chanting shut up and kiss instead LOL. A big shout out thank you to SETTV and drama leads Kingone Wang and Kristen Jen for writing this particular OTP scene and then executing it … Continue reading →
Sunday night SETTV drama Someone Like You continues to thrum along nicely, an uncomplicated and sweet little drama featuring two of the most likable leads in a long while. This drama romance also took a long time to get going, with leads Zhan Cheng and Yu Xi finally getting together for the last two episodes. It’s been sweet but I want … Continue reading →
It’s undeniable that Korea loves Suzy, whether she’s singing, acting, or doing CFs, at this point she can do no wrong. I don’t see her popularity extending overseas to the same degree that she’s beloved domestically, but her first foray into Chinese acting waters is forthcoming which may expand her reach. Chinese entertainment news is reporting that Suzy will be … Continue reading →
I’m still happily watching TW-drama Someone Like You (Chinese title Hearing Happiness). It’s the SETTV Sunday night tent pole drama but feels like the network’s stepchild with how the daily drama Dear Mom and the Friday night new arrival Murphy’s Law of Love are both getting so much more publicity blasts. SLY isn’t a drama that is terribly memorable after … Continue reading →
As more and more promotional materials come out for upcoming period C-drama Chinese Hero Zhao Zi Long (Chinese title God of War Zhao Zi Long), the more my heart sinks as this drama indeed looks like a hot mess. Of course it could always end up an unexpected delight, but it’s hard to feel optimistic anymore when leads Lin Geng Xin … Continue reading →
