I love it when high-profile and big-budgeted primetime K-dramas go head-to-head with the same premiere date. When dramas airing on the same time slot have staggered premieres, it makes it harder to gauge audience interest since a drama with a head start in airing can build up viewers already or if it sucks so bad viewers are dying for something … Continue reading →
*Incoherent spazz attack* Ever since it was announced late last year that Lee Seung Gi was doing the fusion sageuk Gu Family Book, I’ve been in waiting mode to unleash all my pent up excitement at seeing my baby boy taking his acting challenge one step further and tackling a sageuk. I’m glad he chose a fusion and is playing … Continue reading →
There are young actors like Joo Won, who I swear is on track to work himself into an early retirement. He’s done three drama’s back-to-back-to-back, all while juggling a reality show, and has already committed to a movie before he’s even done with his current drama. I have no complaints about his hardworking attitude, but conversely there is a young … Continue reading →
Awwwww, these two are so super duper cute together! It really is a shame one guy had to lose out on winning the heart of the girl in Flower Boy Next Door, because in terms of chemistry Park Shin Hye had it with both Yoon Si Yoon and Kim Ji Hoon. Oddly enough, I thought Park Shin Hye’s onscreen chemistry … Continue reading →
With the Park Shi Hoo rape investigation dominating the entertainment headlines in Korea, and for good reason since its like a circus freakshow crossed with a very badly written makjang weekend drama mixed with a CSI rip-off, yet another really alarming police investigation and scandal has reached an apex this week. Since early February police in Seoul have been investigating … Continue reading →
Talk about fact imitating fiction and becoming truth. In what might have been the seemingly most random coupling in 2013 behind Rain and Kim Tae Hee, singer-actor Yoon Kye Sang and former Miss Korea-turned-actress Honey Lee are in the confirmed early stages of a relationship. That would make Yoon Kye Sang public enemy number one of most men in Korea, … Continue reading →
There are some actors and actresses that are just gifted with the ability to rock a period costume, and Yoo Ah In is undoubtedly near the top of that list when it comes to shining in a sageuk. He’s done the brooding warrior look for two sageuks already, Strongest Chil Woo and Sungkyunkwan Scandal, but this next outing will have … Continue reading →
With a name like When a Man Loves, Song Seung Heon‘s new melodrama is already living up to its title. I don’t see the “love” parts yet in the preview stills, but the “man” bits are being emphasized to the max. Having an inexplicable fondness for my Heon oppa requires a tough skin and the ability to accept his failures … Continue reading →
The he said/she said/everybody else said rape investigation that has been dominating the K-ent headlines continues to roll along on its own like a muddy snowball. The lie detector test results from Park Shi Hoo, alleged victim A, and third party involved K, has been expedited and come back to the Western Police Station. The police have commented that the … Continue reading →
I may love fangirling actors from the comfort of my own chair and computer screen, but I am the laziest person out there in terms of actually attempting real life stalking. So the thought of going to one of those ubiquitous fanmeetings that Korean stars seem to have a few times around in various Asian countries tires me out. I … Continue reading →
What the twins what? I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was reading this correct, and that all the recent rumors were in fact true. Baidu has confirmed it but heck if that means jack squat until we get some definitive answers from Tangren about the script. It has long been bandied about that Liu Shi Shi … Continue reading →
I love Ha Ji Won but she’s getting type cast into a certain action-oriented character role that is starting to limit her range. All her projects in the last few years have had her playing a fighting or sporting role, ranging from Secret Garden to Sector 7 to Korea to The King 2 Hearts. Not to mention she got her … Continue reading →
This true story celebrity friendship is just too good not to share. C-actress turned director Zhao Wei (Vicky Zhao) made her directorial debut last week as she celebrated her 37th birthday while making the rounds promoting her new movie So Young (Literal title is To the Youth that is Fading Away) adapted from the popular novel of the same name. … Continue reading →
