It’s been years since a weekend K-drama hooked me, and maybe May Queen will buck that trend. It’s not that I don’t like family dramas with a good dose of makjang, I’m just always running around on weekends and new episodes sorta slip through the cracks until I dang forget about it. Going up against the piano-playing makjang Five Fingers … Continue reading →
It was the best kind of surprise to have two of my great loves collide over the weekend. What’s even more perfect is that the collision actually produced exhilarating results. A good idea can be remade if something different is added to the mix, and the TW-drama Miss Rose is remaking the K-drama City Hall with a twist. It doesn’t … Continue reading →
Everything about the upcoming Haeundae Lovers is just weird. I don’t mean bad, just odd and hard to wrap my mind around. It seems so slapstick and silly, yet it could be good if done right because you have one prosecutor who loses his memory and thinks he’s a gangster and falls in love with the daughter of a mob … Continue reading →
I swear, the more I see of Love Actually starring Lee Da Hae, Joe Cheng, and Li Yi Feng, the more it gives me Sunny Happiness vibes. Aside from Feng Feng being in both dramas, I’m feeling this lighthearted sweetness plus tons of sparkling chemistry amongst the leads. The similarity increased even more after listening to both the opening credit … Continue reading →
It’s not often that a drama catches me off guard, since prior to airing I’ve read up on the characters and the story so I know what to expect. To say episode 2 of Miss Rose literally tossed me under a bus and then rolled over me a few more times for good measure would be an understatement. Once the … Continue reading →
Brain. Hurt. I’m glad that C-dramas mostly drive me batty or ragey and I quickly pull the plug on ones that looked promising but still ended up being a turd. Another reason to eschew C-dramas is the continued regulatory strong arming done by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) in setting down increasingly restrictive broadcasting rules. Earlier they … Continue reading →
Some of my all-time fave dramas are Japanese doramas. I’ve been watching J-doramas since the early 90s, when I was a wee lass (okay, not so wee, but definitely still a lass), and following this bandwagon has been a bumpy ride. When its good, the ride was exhilarating. When its been blergh, it feels like an interminable period of uninteresting … Continue reading →
The upcoming Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie has the potential to be the holy grail for manga lovers. We have one qualitatively incredible manga, both in terms of storytelling and illustration, that has now been cast perfectly for the live-action adaptation. I won’t say nothing can go wrong because that might jinx it, but everything I see points to awesomesauce in … Continue reading →
It might appear Rainie Yang has been MIA for the past year since finishing Drunken to Love You, with no acting projects aside from the short tourism Australia web drama she did with Show Luo. I’m a late-comer in liking Rainie’s acting, which does have a tendency to be just a smidge too expressive, but she’s learned to rein it … Continue reading →
If Koala had wet dreams, this drama might fit the bill. I’ve been hoarding the official stills for Love Actually starring Joe Cheng, Lee Da Hae, and Li Yi Feng for weeks now, wanting to post about it after the official trailer came out. The trailer has arrived, and oh my goodness was it worth the wait. Minna/Yorobun/Da Jia – … Continue reading →
I’m back – recapping a Taiwan drama, that is. It took something special to get me in the mood again, and is anyone surprised that it ended up being Roy Qiu plus a sprinkling of drama pixie dust to make me sit up and smile. This has been a recap delayed by a considerable number of days because I took … Continue reading →
The upcoming drama tidal wave makes me feel like I’m playing a carnival game that is rigged – I’m going to win a prize no matter what, i.e. there is bound to be a drama that I end up liking. I feel rather like that derpy dog in Up, the one constantly chasing after bones here and there. One minute … Continue reading →
Be still my shippy heart! I was on a K-drama kick the last few months hence I’ve been only casually keeping up with J-ent what with the Spring doramas more or less meh for me. Which is why I literally shrieked like a banshee last night when I read the exploding gossip making its way through Japanese media (and since … Continue reading →
