So this drama was part of C-actor Wang Yibo and his career directional turn away from idol fare to more serious dramas and movies in the last three years. The 1920’s era C-drama Golden Journey with him and Li Qin is about a young man who grows disenchanted with the republic front and embraces the inspirational communist ideals and becomes … Continue reading →
So Kim Soo Hyun has romanced a few rich/powerful/famous female lead characters in his most popular dramas and it appears he’s adding another one to his onscreen dating history. Kim Ji Won in Queen of Tears absolutely channels Jeon Ji Hyun in You From Another Star, IU in Producer, and Seo Ye Ji in It’s Okay to Not be Okay. … Continue reading →
So the biggest C-drama to drop this year so far will go to The Legend of Shen Li which is reportedly slated now for an early March 2024 release. When I say biggest I mean highest profile in leads and budget and also breadth of release, The drama will air on China Central Television, Zhejiang TV, Jiangsu TV and also … Continue reading →
I don’t think we’ll see this C-drama anytime soon as the first chapter has yet to air, but Fox Spirit Matchmaker the second chapter Zhu Ye recently released new posters and it just looks so relaxing and poetic. Starring Liu Shi Shi and Zhang Yun Long, I think the production bought up all the green costumes in Hendian studios lol … Continue reading →
I give Cha Eun Woo credit for taking on drama after drama and continuing to improve. His micro expressions and quite decent comedic timing in his most recent drama A Good Day to be a Dog reminded me yet again that in the right role he’s quite pleasing and pleasant to watch onscreen. He is also willing to expand beyond … Continue reading →
Boy am I glad I was too busy in RL to start watching Marry My Husband last month because I could absolutely imagine my own rage right now. The drama last week introduced BoA playing a new character not in the webtoon, the ex-fiancee of the male lead, and from her arrival the entire plot apparently has gone from satisfying … Continue reading →
The currently filming C-drama Perfect Match has released a pretty concept poster rendered like an old Chinese brush painting of a cityscape complete with socializing gentle folk. While I loathe to watch a Yu Zheng produced drama I do like leads Wang Xing Yue and Lu Yu Xiao not to mention the Pride and Prejudice get five sisters married hijinks … Continue reading →
So My Dearest ended the 2023 year strong for sageuks and now 2024 is off to a great start thanks to Knight Flower and also Captivating the King. The latter was more of a slow burn start and the ratings have only in the most recent episodes 9-10 nearly doubled from the premiere. The reviews are stellar for male lead … Continue reading →
Viewers complain, rightfully so, that K-dramas start strong and then fade or fall off a cliff in script quite often. So it’s both a blessing and a sadness when a strong drama that remains strong will be on the shorter end of a usual run. MBC weekend drama Knight Flower with Honey Lee and Lee Jong Won has been the … Continue reading →
So my goodwill towards C-actor Chen Zhe Yuan after his breakout last summer with Hidden Love is rapidly evaporating. Recently he got some negative feedback over his flap with his Sword and Fairy 4 costar Ju Jing Yi over top billing which delayed the drama’s airing and was all for naught since the drama sucked and neither star ended up … Continue reading →
So this is a weird weekend for jTBC drama Dr. Slump and I can’t tell if it’s an anomaly or portending a trend. The drama started off with 4% ratings going up to 6% which is great, but this weekend it dropped by nearly half down to 3.735% and 3.868%. Of course it’s also the same weekend as lunar new … Continue reading →
I’m just relieved that the three Fox Spirit Matchmaker dramas are all produced by the same company, otherwise it runs the risk of airing against each other as recently seen with the Chinese Paladin drama adaptations Sword and Fairy. The first one the Yue Hong chapter has been done filming since 2022 and is ready for release any time, and … Continue reading →
So this C-drama doesn’t have an English sensible title yet so the Chinese title is just Xian Yu which translates to Offering Fish. It’s adapted from the C-novel Offering Salted Fish to Master and I haven’t read it so have no clue what the reference entails. I don’t see any fish or offering of said fish in the new character … Continue reading →
