Now this is more like it! I was legit concerned for K-actress Park Min Young watching her in the most recent drama Love in Contract, she just looked much skinnier and it didn’t suit her well. The drama was mostly weird and occasionally terrible but overall rather harmless, it don’t hurt or help the career of anyone involved and will … Continue reading →
The Korean drama expansion continues into the end of the year as the K-ent contingent made their presence known at this week’s 2022 International Emmy Awards. Not to be confused with the Primetime Emmy’s which are more prestigious covering top US shows, the International Emmy’s are more run the entire spectrum and probably harder to compare shows and performances across … Continue reading →
There is a lot to unpack in the new stills for the upcoming short season 2 of Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow. The female lead role got recast as Go Yoon Jung who returns as the physical form of Naksu, whose soul was in Jung So Min‘s body prior as Mu Deok. Whereas she was a cold assassin prior, … Continue reading →
A big casting news this week and I have a strong sense this casting will be the final one. Kim Ji Won is in talks to be the leading lady of the high profile K-drama The Queen of Tears, the next work from writer Park Ji Eun of Crash Landing on You. If she accepts she will join male lead … Continue reading →
C-actor Dylan Wang‘s fanbase was always devoted but it’s gotten even larger after his summer hit Love Between Fairy and Devil. Which helps with the goodies for his next drama Only For Love (also referred to as Love as Camp) costarring Bai Lu. The leads were spotting filming in public this week and not just random street filming it was … Continue reading →
I judge character dramas on the design, and these look good, but then mostly on whether the actor or actress behind the character is bringing it. It’s half-brung here for the posters of Island, the upcoming supernatural demon fighting in Jeju K-drama starring Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon, in that two of the … Continue reading →
Will the first K-drama romance set in outer space be any good? No clue? Will leads Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Min Ho generate astronomical levels of chemistry? Prolly not but all I need for them to do is try. Will I watch Ask the Stars? OH HELLS YEAH! This kind of budget busting tentpole K-dramas is what I crave … Continue reading →
First all, not all tax scandals are equal but most recent C-ent tax scandals have all been pretty big deal with equally big deal consequences. But it looks like C-actress Yuan Bing Yan may escape the cancellation of death for her tax scandal which was for the entertainment company where she served as a director and financial representative. It was … Continue reading →
I’m glad I have some knowledge of K-pop because I know that groups have a Visual, i.e. the girl or guy who is the best looking but not the best at the actual singing/performing stuff. But in a group it’s fine because the others pick up the other elements, so when it comes to acting one can’t be a Visual … Continue reading →
The news around agency Hook Entertainment has gone from uh-oh to bad to worse. The agency was raided last week by the Major Crimes Unit of the Seoul police, reportedly collecting evidence for allegations of embezzlement and perhaps other financial misconduct by executives. Reportedly Hook fell under the purview of the cops after its artist Park Min Young was revealed … Continue reading →
I didn’t pay attention to the airing schedule for Reborn Rich (The Chaebol’s Youngest Son) so it was like a treat from the drama gods to wake up on Sunday with a new episode 3! jTBC is airing three episodes each week from Fri-Sun and what a great way to kick off a ratings hit and critically lauded new drama. … Continue reading →
There are two Chinese Paladin dramas in the works, the latest version of the RPG game is being made into the C-drama Sword and Fairy with Xu Kai and Yu Shu Xin (Esther Yu), but the OG Chinese Paladin that was the C-drama in 2006 that launched Hu Ge‘s career and cemented Crystal Liu as the fairy goddess of all … Continue reading →
The first year end K-drama OTP poll is out courtesy of Joynews and it’s basically the list of all the good pairings I’ve heard bandied about during the 2022 drama runs. In first place is Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh in Extraordinary Attorney Woo with 61 votes, and clearly the whales approve. Second place is Son Seok Kyu … Continue reading →
