I’m glad I have some knowledge of K-pop because I know that groups have a Visual, i.e. the girl or guy who is the best looking but not the best at the actual singing/performing stuff. But in a group it’s fine because the others pick up the other elements, so when it comes to acting one can’t be a Visual … Continue reading →
The news around agency Hook Entertainment has gone from uh-oh to bad to worse. The agency was raided last week by the Major Crimes Unit of the Seoul police, reportedly collecting evidence for allegations of embezzlement and perhaps other financial misconduct by executives. Reportedly Hook fell under the purview of the cops after its artist Park Min Young was revealed … Continue reading →
I didn’t pay attention to the airing schedule for Reborn Rich (The Chaebol’s Youngest Son) so it was like a treat from the drama gods to wake up on Sunday with a new episode 3! jTBC is airing three episodes each week from Fri-Sun and what a great way to kick off a ratings hit and critically lauded new drama. … Continue reading →
There are two Chinese Paladin dramas in the works, the latest version of the RPG game is being made into the C-drama Sword and Fairy with Xu Kai and Yu Shu Xin (Esther Yu), but the OG Chinese Paladin that was the C-drama in 2006 that launched Hu Ge‘s career and cemented Crystal Liu as the fairy goddess of all … Continue reading →
The first year end K-drama OTP poll is out courtesy of Joynews and it’s basically the list of all the good pairings I’ve heard bandied about during the 2022 drama runs. In first place is Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh in Extraordinary Attorney Woo with 61 votes, and clearly the whales approve. Second place is Son Seok Kyu … Continue reading →
It’s off to the races and what was billed as a thoroughbred of top actors and acclaimed production team does not disappoint from the start. Reborn Rich (The Chaebol’s Youngest Son) premiered this Friday on cable network jTBC with 6.058%, the second highest network premiere of all time behind The World of the Married with 6.260%. It’s the only other … Continue reading →
Two of the more popular C-dramas this year in 2022 was sci-fi Groundhog Day-esque Reset and period romance Love Like the Galaxy, so it’s only fitting that two of the leads will be teaming up in 2023 for a new C-drama. It’s called During the Snowstorm and is adapted from the same name web novel and currently will star Wu … Continue reading →
There is leeeeetle bit of reel mixed with real juiciness in this dating news but it’s really just a coincidence more than anything. C-ent tabloids captures HK-actor Hawick Lau with C-actress Wang Xiaofeng recently appearing out on a date, closing walking proximity and holding hands. They’ve even posted the same Halloween pumpkin carvings recently as well. After news broke, Hawick … Continue reading →
Oh I remember this news story and it’s legit one of the most rage inducing ones I’ve read from J-ent. During the height of COVID-19 in June of 2020, Japanese veteran comedian and MC Watabe Ken was outed by a tabloid as being a habitual cheater on his drop dead gorgeous model-actress wife Sasaki Nozomi, from when they were dating, … Continue reading →
It’s good to have a plan B, or C, D, E, F, lol I don’t know how wide the production of C-drama Hidden God cast the net to so quickly line up a replacement male lead and not impact the filming schedule. The drama is slated to start filming at the end of the month in November and reportedly supporting … Continue reading →
It’s time for jTBC drama Reborn Rich to arrive and also time for Song Joong Ki to fire his coordi lol. All K-netizens could about after today’s press conference was WTF kind of pants is he wearing? Wide-legged pleated thick grey wool trousers that made him look like a hobbit when we all know he’s an elf. If he was … Continue reading →
Watching Asian dramas for over three decades not only has seem my tastes age as I have but it’s also followed plenty of stars from their own leading man/woman days to their playing dad/mom days. Most recently I did “what tha what?!?” when I saw Han Chae Ah playing Yook Sung Jae‘s MOM in Gold Spoon. I should have seen … Continue reading →
So I skipped Story of Yanxi Palace when it aired in 2018 as by then I had lost interest in C-dramas and also because it’s a Yu Zheng produced drama and that man is the trolliest of all trolls. It also looked like a weaksauce copycat version of The Legend of Zhen Huan (Empresses in the Palace). Yanxi was there … Continue reading →
