Watching tvN drama Queen Cheorin (Mr. Queen) reminds me of the worst and most sincere excesses of my (and many others) attempts at writing. We try too hard, and have too much to say. Individual sentences works, broader concepts are interesting, but in the earnestness of trying to convey it ends up jumping topics and tones. QC can’t decide if … Continue reading →
Well this is certainly not, on the surface, a good development for OCN ratings hit drama The Uncanny Counter. The screenwriter Yeo Ji Na has left the drama immediately, with PD Yoo taking over the script for episode 13 and another screenwriter coming in after for the remaining episodes. It’s reportedly a difference of opinion on the ending of the … Continue reading →
There hasn’t been a C-drama to entice me in a few years, not since Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms, though the Koala jiejie has asked me to watch Love and Destiny and I still owe her that. With that said, I clearly was never going to watch recently premiered high profile period C-drama Monarch Industry (上阳赋 also … Continue reading →
Woah, this is quite a surprising drama news update. K-actress Song Hye Kyo, confirmed for hit screenwriter Kim Eun Sook‘s upcoming 2021 revenge drama The Glory, had earlier also been linked to romance drama Now, We Are Breaking Up. That drama was even earlier in talks with Su Ae and Yoo Teo but that fell apart, and then Song Hye … Continue reading →
I thought another double queen K-drama was headed our way in 2021 but alas this one was not meant to me. K-ent is reporting that upcoming K-drama W: The City of Undying Women starring Kim Sun Ah and Uhm Jung Hwa in dual female lead roles has run into a full stop. The production has been disbanded and the drama … Continue reading →
Okay I totally agree with this four-some and how talented and ripe for (further) breakout in 2021, but there may be one or two more names I would add to the list. Nevertheless this really is a new bright era for K-dramas with so many genuinely good actors and actresses on deck to become solo male and female leads on … Continue reading →
The SBS Fri-Sat drama Delayed Justice is having a delayed resurgence thanks to turning lemons into lemonade. The drama fired male lead Bae Sung Woo after his drunk driving arrest and had to find another top male actor willing to step in for the 4 remaining episodes. Initially it was Lee Jung Jae but his schedule didn’t work out so … Continue reading →
I hope the production has enough footage in the bank when KBS sageuk River Where the Moon Rises premieres next month in February because I can see delays due to COVID-19, the winter weather, lunar new year and the like for a drama that is large in scale and requires a lot more prep. I’m so excited this drama is … Continue reading →
I feel like jTBC is doing a great job of hyping up its upcoming drama Sisyphus: The Myth by always emphasizing that it’s the drama to celebrate the network’s 10th anniversary. But the worry is that the drama ends up not being as good as people expect due to the hype but eh, why worry now and let’s just enjoy … Continue reading →
After a bit of casting carousel, the college era romance drama Dear M is now gearing up to meet audiences. KBS has scheduled the drama for Friday starting February 26th, so one episode a week and hopefully it’s good enough to keep the momentum from each week. Starring Park Hye Soo, Noh Jeong Eui, Jaehyun of idol group NCT, and … Continue reading →
Strike while the iron is hot and it’s no surprise K-actor Jo Byung Kyu is the It Boy to start of 2021 thanks to the success of OCN drama The Uncanny Counter. Sure it’s an ensemble piece but he’s definitely part of the special sauce not to mention he’s been on a roll for the last two years first breaking … Continue reading →
The confirmation for upcoming K-drama Human Disqualification feels a harem for the male lead, lol. I’m teasing but it’s five actresses and one actor so far, so lucky him. K-ent has announced Jeon Do Yeon and Ryu Jun Yeol for the drama Human Disqualification, and yes their big age difference is intentional as the female lead is in her 40’s … Continue reading →
I thought tvN thriller drama Mouse would be airing later into 2021 but it’s actually premiering soon, next month in February in the Wed-Thurs time slot after True Beauty. The production released this week a haunting short teaser preview with child actor Kim Kang Hoon who is playing the kid version of male lead Lee Seung Gi‘s character in the … Continue reading →
