Now it’s just a matter of how high can it go, as jTBC Fri-Sat drama The World of the Married crossed over the impressive and vaunted 20% ratings mark on its episode 8 with 8 more episodes to go. Sky Castle, the current network and cable ratings leader didn’t break 20% until episode 18 and holds the crown at over … Continue reading →
It’s episode 2 time for SBS Fri-Sat night drama The King: Eternal Monarch, and there are ever only three ways a second episode could go: up, same, or down. I thought The King would increase in ratings but it stayed basically the same with second episode ratings of 8.4% and 11.6% in half episode increments. I found the world building … Continue reading →
It’s kinda telling that the three lowest rating single episode ratings for a Big Three network K-drama are all with KBS. There may be a new champion in highest rated cable drama soon if The World of the Married continues its trajectory with the chance to surpass Sky Castle, but the other way has a new champion this week. KBS … Continue reading →
PD Shin Won Ho has gone from growing up stories in his hit Answer Me series to professional and situation slice-of-life dramas. His Wise Prison Life (Prison Playbook) has now moved quite timely to the currently airing Wise Doctor Life (Hospital Playlist) and there will be a familiar face showing up in an upcoming episode. Go Ara who was the … Continue reading →
This is a solid start for SBS Fri-Sat fantasy romance drama The King: Eternal Monarch starring Lee Min Ho, Kim Go Eun, Woo Do Hwan, Jung Eun Chae, Kim Kyung Nam, and Lee Jung Jin. The first episode took in 10.1% and 11.4% ratings and is clearly primed to go up what with the fresh story and big name cast … Continue reading →
Okay, this is an unexpected switcheroo. The male lead of upcoming national park based K-drama Mount Jiri will now be Joo Ji Hoon, after earlier news that Park Seo Joon was in talks for the role. This would be a reunion for Joo Ji Hoon and female lead Jeon Ji Hyun, of sorts, since they had like 5 seconds of … Continue reading →
This will be a first in K-drama land. jTBC is currently winning the ratings race with the hit Fri-Sat drama The World of the Married, coming after the hit Itaewon Class and even surpassing it. Due to COVID-19 concerns, jTBC has decided to slow down production on the drama to air after The World of the Married (good idea!) and … Continue reading →
Social distancing life of spring 2020 will not and should not stop the gathering of friends, family, and caring people in South Korea to memorialize the 6th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry sinking. K-stars were posting about it which is great because I forgot this anniversary so there is good from stars commenting about public events. It was April 16th, … Continue reading →
It’s finally here woo hoo! Finally the wait is over and something interesting to watch is only a day away to look forward to. The cast of SBS Fri-Sat drama The King: Eternal Monarch attended the obligatory press conference today in Seoul and everyone got a dress code message, or at least I think so and the lone outlier did … Continue reading →
This is one of the rare good news to come out of the good news shortage 2020 so far. Japanese idols Yamashita Tomohisa and Kamenashi Kazuya have reunited for a May 2020 mini dome tour starting in Osaka and ending on Tokyo. The two worked together musically first as the fictional Shuji to Akira named after their characters in hit … Continue reading →
Woo hoo, a great new variety show season to look forward to and an even better first guest star. K-actress Gong Hyo Jin will be the first guest on the upcoming new season 4 of Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village. The original three leads are back to cook and fish including Cha Seung Won, Yoo Hae Jin, and Son … Continue reading →
Dang, I’m getting so excited about KBS Mon-Tues drama Born Again, probably because I think both male leads Jang Ki Yong and Lee Soo Hyuk are so charismatic in different ways. Also I’m not in the camp of thinking Jin Se Yeon is the worst actress to walk the earth, she’s not bad in the right roles and with the … Continue reading →
OMG this is such a fun, subjective, and totally debatable what-if topic. K-netizens on TheQoo have started a discussion topic asking what of the first-gen Hallyu top actresses would have been the visual center spot had they all debuted in one idol group together. Would it be brainy Kim Tae Hee (162 cm), versatile Jeon Ji Hyun (173.5 cm), feminine … Continue reading →
