There’s a casting change this week in K-drama land that isn’t quite as explosive and intrusive to the drama filming as what happened with SBS hit thriller Return needing to replace its leading lady midway through airing. K-actress Park Sa Rang has dropped out of the upcoming Kim Eun Sook period drama Mr. Sunshine, with initial reports that it was … Continue reading →
I’m relieved that the forward direction of beleaguered SBS Wed-Thurs drama Return is finally decided. Whatever the full truth is between the beef that led to the blowup altercation on the set with the PD and lead actress Go Hyun Jung, there is still other people in the cast and crew that did nothing and should not suffer even more … Continue reading →
I take any reports of suicide and/or such attempts very seriously especially in South Korea which has one of the highest suicide rates in the world thanks to a combination of cultural reasons and a high pressure environment to succeed. This week is off to a scary start with a K-ent news report that actor Lee Joon attempted suicide while … Continue reading →
I’m too scared to drastically cut my hair nowadays, call it complacency mixed with an aversion to risk the older I get. Younger me tried out a super short cut once and was just meh with it but I’m glad to have tried it especially now when I don’t have the stomach to anymore. Which is why I also like … Continue reading →
Whenever I see a bunch of dolled up Korean actors and actresses on a photo set with a lavish backdrop, chances are it’s poster filming for a weekend drama. These sprawling affairs with a large cast and many intersecting story lines are there for the steady weekend fix of family with a dollop of makjang, and how big that dollop … Continue reading →
The wait continues on when K-actress Yoon Eun Hye would return to acting but she remains steadily busy and gave a hint recently at her other endeavors. Yoon Eun Hye attended the 1st inaugural Youth Mobile Film Festival, kicking off movies made by young folks shop on their mobile phones. Yoon Eun Hye served as a speaker and a judge, … Continue reading →
The first character posters are out for the upcoming 2018 drama remake of Meteor Garden, now more officially a TW-drama and C-drama mashup thanks to the producer being Angie Tsai who produced the classic 2001 version but this time getting Chinese production backing and the main cast being predominately Chinese actors. All the previous Hana Yori Dango adaptations whether J-dorama, … Continue reading →
A drama teaser is supposed to set a tone and whet the appetite, and I’m certainly intrigued but mostly in a confused way for upcoming tvN drama My Ahjusshi. It’s the drama that’s gotten tons of commentary for casting Lee Seon Kyun in the age appropriate role of a man in his forties, and similarly casting IU as the female … Continue reading →
I have some sad news to share though this particular star was only starting off his career and is likely not well known yet. Korean singer and variety star Kim Han Il (also known as Jack Kim), who was active in Mainland China entertainment, has passed away this week after suffering a medical condition on Jeju Island and unable to … Continue reading →
Another airport day, another fashion sponsorship moment for K-actress Park Shin Hye. She was head-to-toe Coach leaving Incheon airport for the brand’s fashion event overseas, matching her orange-red hair color with a red-brown structured hip length leather jacket. I liked her outfit much more two weeks ago when she jetted out of Incheon modeling Chanel’s droolworthy winter white long coat. … Continue reading →
This week is a great double happiness for K-actress Kim Yoo Jung as she graduates high school and starts filming her first K-drama modern rom-com leading lady role in Clean with Passion for Now. I still remember first laying eyes on the teeny tiny Kim Yoo Jung back in 2006 in Iljimae and being enchanted that such a young child … Continue reading →
From the timing and circumstances surrounding actor Jung Seok Won‘s drug arrest yesterday, changes are he is being used as a decoy to divert attention from other potentially more nefarious news stories. It’s old hat especially in South Korea, but it doesn’t negate what he did if it’s indeed true that he was busted for meth use. The alleged use … Continue reading →
This isn’t the usual buzzy K-ent story when it broke today thanks to even bigger news that dominated the industry headlines. A K-ent news publication claimed in an exclusive article that Lee Min Ho and Suzy are back together dating, courtesy of being spotted together on a date recently. There’s a “date” wherein the couple is very cozy together and … Continue reading →
