Oh wow, what is going on over in South Korea entertainment! This is such distressing news to break, especially for singer Baek Ji Young. K-actor Jung Seok Won, who is married to Baek Ji Young and the couple just welcomed their first baby last year, has been arrested for suspicion of drug use involving meth. That’s a hardcore drug in … Continue reading →
The she says/SBS says back-and-forth has been raging one for two days now with respect to the debacle on the set of Wed-Thurs K-drama Return with the departure of leading lady Go Hyun Jung. But the show must go on and it looks like Park Jin Hee will be joining the drama heading for the second half of it’s run. … Continue reading →
It’s a quiet end for Chen Qiao En‘s early January drunk driving incident in Taipei, as the actress appeared before a judge this week and got her sentencing. Due to cooperating with authorities from her initial arrest, being apologetic, and accepting responsibility for her actions, the judge took all that into account as well as a lack of a prior … Continue reading →
Oooooh, me likey scruffy period attire Jo In Sung! The actor hasn’t been in the spotlight much this past year and turns out he’s been filming the period K-movie Ansi Fortress which has wrapped and is in post-production for a second half 2018 premiere in theaters. He plays General Yang Man Chun, a famed Gorguyeo commander of the titular Ansi … Continue reading →
Oh my lord does the situation on the set of SBS Wed-Thurs ratings leading drama Return appear to be a veritable shit show, pardon my language. The drama hit 15% ratings already and is the first sign of a prime time K-drama doing well to start of 2018. SBS actually aired compilations of the first few episodes during this week’s … Continue reading →
All the attention on weekend dramas right now is centered around KBS drama My Golden Life, which almost hit 45% AGB nationwide ratings in its latest episode and netted itself a two episode extension as well. I love the works of the screenwriter So Hyun Kyung but have been unable to hit play due to personal opinions with the casting. … Continue reading →
Now this is an interesting drama that throws something unexpected into the upcoming K-drama pipeline for spring 2018. Offers are out to D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) and Nam Ji Hyun to headline the period tvN drama Hundred Days Husband. It’s being billed as a period version of The Bourne Identity, about a well-trained crown prince who survives an assassination falling … Continue reading →
The goodness keeps on coming for Mystery Queen 2, with the second drama poster moving the detective duo from the wintry countryside road to chilling beside a crime scene. They are so effortlessly cool, for the first time I think that of leads Kwon Sang Woo and Choi Kang Hee since watching many of their previous dramas and only wondering … Continue reading →
Two new adaptations are in the works for early 2018 as K-dramas continue to look towards the drawn medium for access to ready-made stories. The first coming down the pipeline is a K-drama adaptation of a manhwa called Your Butler. It tells the story of a capable male butler who goes to work for a household full of scatterbrained women … Continue reading →
I love love love Min Hyo Rin‘s wedding dress at her lavish Seoul wedding to Big Bang member and singer Taeyang. It’s a strapless sweetheart neckline dress with petal embroidery which is extended through her long veil. Her hair was pulled into a low pony with soft tendrils framing her face. It’s romantic and dreamy without being too ostentatious, and … Continue reading →
The Hong Sisters currently airing tvN fantasy drama Hwayugi finished its 6th week and at 20 episodes has another month of airing left. I hope it’s enough to wrap up all the myriad threads and continue to develop the characters more because right now all my concerns with this drama have intensified in the same way all the Hong Sisters … Continue reading →
This sounds like a smart and totally obvious attempt to mash together two of the most popular prime time K-drama genres in recent years in the medical and legal crossover. MBC is scheduling Legal Investigation Man and Woman (literal title) for after Let’s Hold Hands and Watch the Sunset on Wed-Thurs. The drama is about a forensic pathologist (could be … Continue reading →
I don’t follow K-pop so I don’t know the barometers of a successful album release. From what I’ve gathered Suzy‘s recently released second solo mini album is doing well but whether that’s just good enough or very very well I’ll leave to the experts to elucidate. I do know she’s looking quite well and that’s in the very very very … Continue reading →
