It’s been only six months since Mark Chao waltzed back to my drama consciousness with an indelible and exquisitely nuanced portrayal of male lead Ye Hua (and his various incarnations) in the C-drama adaptation of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms. He’s been super selective with dramas so clearly he’s not angling for the greater popularity that … Continue reading →
I love this new Jeon Ji Hyun pictorial doubly for how beautiful she looks and how the photographer strategically shot every frame to use the bags she’s modeling to hide her second pregnancy. It does double duty of emphasizing the bags which makes me wonder why bag makers don’t just pick pregnant stars to do all their ad campaigns because … Continue reading →
Leave it to cable network tvN to move fast and select likable leads for a new rom-com drama headed our way. The casting is confirmed for mid-fall drama Revolutionary Love with hot off the military discharge platform Choi Siwon paired with the always charming Kang Sora. The drama is the usual rich guy-poor girl situation plus the enjoyable cohabitation trope, … Continue reading →
I’m pretty immune to celebrity endorsements making me want to buy something, the last time I really had the urge was when Yoon Eun Hye was the face of Cartier during the relaunch of the Juste Un Clou collection. Leave it to her Coffee Prince charming costar Gong Yoo to elicit a shiver of desire for an item just become … Continue reading →
It’s insane that I remember vividly sending off Choi Siwon right after She Was Pretty wrapped and the same feeling of it happened yesterday when Changmin enlisted shortly after Scholar Who Walks the Night. That’s nearly two year ago (!!!) and today the boys in blue are back just in time for the tail end of summer. The fans were … Continue reading →
Sigh, it sucks to have one happy dating news followed by one sad breakup news in the same week, especially since both sets of romances were the on set reel to real drama fan shipping types. Cult favorite K-drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo leads Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung have confirmed their breakup after about 6 months … Continue reading →
Ji Sung has always been a low key celeb and that’s served him well as consistency through career ups and downs and he’s had plenty of them. Even after the popular Kill Me, Heal Me that succeeded against all odds (and plot description), he followed up with the misfire Entertainer. But now he’s back on top with Defendant which has … Continue reading →
If something doesn’t succeed then sucking so badly as to enter infamy may be a viable alternative to paddling in the middling center of mediocrity. Recently premiered Wed-Thurs KBS drama Manhole (Wonderland’s Feel or Feels So Good) is sliding into so bad it’s memorable for being that bad territory whether it was intentional or note, and frankly judging from the … Continue reading →
The unveiling is here for the maiden voyage of MBC‘s Hospital Ship, taking the ever popular medical K-drama genre and plopping it on the ocean with pit stops at port cities and remote islands. While SBS has been having lots of luck with medical dramas and churn them out the most, MBC hasn’t done a prime time medical drama since … Continue reading →
School’s starting again and it also feels like the drama train is coming to life as many Taiwan actors and actresses have upcoming dramas to look forward to. Adding a new one to the lineup with a big name director and cast but on a more du jour platform – Director Winnie of In Time With You and It Started … Continue reading →
This new K-ent dating couple allows a fan favorite alternate drama ship to sail and plenty of “I told you so” from their fans. I think Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol were adorable together in Answer Me 1988 even though narratively I was a hundred billion percent on the Park Bo Gum ship. Everyone has their preferences and since it’s … Continue reading →
Oh what a heavily promoted movie and a stunning engagement surprise can do for a career, but luckily the star in question has the acting chops to back up the resurgent popularity. The tally is out by the Korean Advertising Association and the most popular male CF stars for this August result shows Song Joong Ki back on top in … Continue reading →
There’s been updates to the alleged sexual harassment allegations lobbed at idol-actor Onew from the boy group SHINee, some conflicting statements but so far nothing fully incriminating or exonerating. Onew was reported to the police by a woman at a club who claimed he touched her inappropriately, with Onew’s agency SM Entertainment admitting the touching happened but claimed he was … Continue reading →
