Lightning in a bottle is impossible to replicate and even trying something similar in genre is a risky move to make the comparisons all the more stark. tvN finished airing the K-drama adaptation of fantasy manhwa Bride of the Water God this week and the entire thing went down like me munching on a bag of somewhat stale potato chips … Continue reading →
I can’t believe I’m already perched to jump ship from the Ye Hua-Bai Qian forever sailing into happily ever after barge. But while Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles Peach Blossoms remains perfection life goes on and one needs to look forward to new projects to come and none are more visually enticing than period C-drama Legend of Fuyao (Empress … Continue reading →
This is one amusing kerfluffle involving China’s top movie actress Fan Bing Bing and C-netizens with nothing better to do. Fan Bing Bing was a guest on a variety show this week similar to Infinity Challenge and for the outdoor events she hilariously participated while completely covered up head to toe, at one point only her forehead was showing. C-netizens … Continue reading →
Cable network tvN‘s biggest hit drama to date Answer Me 1988 is happily back in the news last week due to news that leads Hyeri and Ryu Jun Yeol are dating in real life. It’s as good a reason to fondly remember the drama and also flash back to the other lead Park Bo Gum‘s role in stealing Hyeri’s characters … Continue reading →
Concept posters don’t need to make or break the project to come but for a veteran entertainment consumer like me it definitely adds a level of appreciation if I see something creative or executed well. I’m loving the teaser character posters for upcoming fantasy C-drama The King of Blaze, adapted from the manhua by Taiwanese artist You Su Lan from … Continue reading →
I have solid if uninspiring hopes for upcoming MBC medical drama Hospital Ship, one that rises and falls but never falls through the hopeless trap door just yet. Unfortunately the dings are the cast members other than female lead Ha Ji Won along with medical dramas not being MBC’s forte, that would be where SBS has a nice foothold. But … Continue reading →
KBS has been known to cut its losses and shorten dramas most recently with beloved by its loyal viewers but critically low rated medical drama Beautiful Mind. That drama at least had double the ratings of the current Wed-Thurs trainwreck Manhole (Wonderland’s Feel or Feels So Good), a drama so lowly rated new pundits are digging up two decade long … Continue reading →
My condolences to veteran K-actress Song Seon Mi who is in the news for the worst reason possible, the death of a loved on. Song Seon Mi’s movie art director husband was stabbed to death on Monday morning at a law firm in Seoul by his own 28 year old nephew. The two were involved in a squabble over inheritance … Continue reading →
I think it’s for the best and wish this newlywed couple all the best in navigating the early days of marriage plus the demands of expecting a baby. K-ent is reporting that newlywed acting couple Lee Dong Gun and Jo Yoon Hee are quitting the tvN reality show Newlywed Diary due to her dealing with unexpected pregnancy complications. There’s no … Continue reading →
I haven’t paid attention to a weekend drama this year other than SBS drama Father is Strange but this new casting news will for sure bring me back to the weekend fodder but over on MBC. The network is slated to premiere weekend drama Money Flower this November and now the leading man is set with none other than prolific … Continue reading →
Looks like Goblin will be tvN‘s most successful drama for the a considerable time atop the perch, but the network continues to churn out quality fare on a consistent basis even if not every project is a success. After Goblin on the Sat-Sun time slot the network followed with two disappointing dramas in Tomorrow With You with Shin Mina and … Continue reading →
A huge stupendous congratulations for just concluded jTBC weekend drama Women of Dignity, shattering records and accolades along the way of telling the female life story with renewed energy and vigor. The drama already broke the cable network’s own best episode rating record four episodes ago when it had a rating in the 9% range slightly higher then previous record … Continue reading →
Floral used to be a no no for much younger me seeking the sleek modern vibes conveyed by black, white and generally muted solid colors. The florals of the housewife 50’s or the hippie 70’s were not for me, but in recent years the pattern has morphed into a new era of anything goes as long as you wear it … Continue reading →
