It’s great news for Ji Sung and also an impressive overall streak for SBS as new Mon-Tues drama Defendant debuted with respectable first episode ratings of 14.5% AGB nationwide. That’s less than half of what predecessor Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim ended with, but that drama started off with similar ratings as Defendant and kept increasing as it aired so time … Continue reading →
It’s now looking like a one-two and three punch for the upcoming K-drama adaptation of manhwa Bride of the Water God, done with a twist of course. The adaptation announced last year that the screenwriter of Misaeng, and Arang and the Magistrate, was adapting the original source material. Later on came the addition of the PD of Nine: Nine Times … Continue reading →
This Monday is the premiere of new SBS Mon-Tues drama Defendant, taking over for the huge hit that was Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim. It will be interesting to see how the ratings are for Defendant right off the bat, with KBS in midway airing of sageuk Hwarang and MBC finishing up the final week of the low rated Night Light. … Continue reading →
It’s the second of the double weddings that hit K-ent this third week of January 2017, right before lunar new year so maybe the couples were aiming to tie the knot in the year of the monkey before the year of the rooster arrives. Who knows but all I know is that both weddings infused me with content happiness to … Continue reading →
The most low key of all the high profile K-ent couples make a dazzling public and media debut this weekend as Rain and Kim Tae Hee arrived at Incheon airport to catch a flight to Bali for their honeymoon. The just married newlyweds were hand-in-hand with Rain leading the way through the scrum of folks snapping their pics while wifey … Continue reading →
Cameras have started rolling on the set of upcoming MBC sageuk Ruler: Master of the Mask. The big lead time start is good news, even though the drama doesn’t arrive until May it’s nice to get an early glimpse at a drama I’m super looking forward to. Starring Yoo Seung Ho, Kim So Hyun, L, and Yoon So Hee, the … Continue reading →
Sooooooo…….let’s get this out of the way – I am not a fan of how Kim Eun Sook decided to write the ending to her hit cable drama Goblin. This drama made me cry buckets of tears at various junctures and the entire final episode was awash with salty drops falling from my eyes. It was beautifully rendered and acceptable … Continue reading →
Pretty Park Shin Hye out and about is always a welcome treat for me. She made an appearance this past week at the Bruno Magli event in Seoul for the brand that she’s repped the accessories line for many years now. Initially her style seemed too youthful a fit with the traditional stylings of the brand but she’s been gravitating … Continue reading →
I’m a tad concerned for upcoming MBC Mon-Tues drama Rebel: The Thief Who Stole the People. The first trailer seems overwrought while the two leads feel green for their leading role debuts. Both Yoon Kyun Sang and Chae Boo Bin have been getting plenty of second lead roles in the last two years but it’s rather a big leap to … Continue reading →
The finale two-episodes of Goblin airing on Saturday is in good shape to wrap things up nicely. Friday’s episode 14 confidently brought back the vanquished Goblin not midway through with sass, not bothering to explain much other than little details were placed along the way to make it happen within the fantasy narrative. Episode 14 took a huge cable network … Continue reading →
MBC‘s new Wed-Thurs drama isn’t off to a soaring start with plane crash story Missing 9 rather taking the trajectory of the fated plane. But strong competition in ratings leader Legend of the Blue Sea ends next week so who knows is Missing 9 will fly higher with the one week buffer until KBS drops its new drama Chief Kim and … Continue reading →
Casting proceeded rather quickly from when tvN announced that it was adapting music themed manga She Fell in Love with My Lie into a K-drama She Loves Lies. The manga had a successful J-movie adaptation The Liar and His Lover starring Sato Takeru so I am a little underwhelmed with the casting of Lee Hyun Woo as the musician male … Continue reading →
There’s plenty of justification for K-drama fans to wish that singer-actress Suzy stick with the musical side of her entertainment career. Her drama outings have been mostly underwhelming, with the spots of success few and far between a tendency to emote flatly. I’m still okay with her getting cast in dramas, even opposite my favorite leading men, because the failed … Continue reading →
