Tucked away behind the Big Three of current K-ent growing up child actresses, namely Kim Yoo Jung, Kim Sae Ron, and Kim So Hyun, are many more talented and precocious young actresses with plenty of potential all their own. I’ve been keeping an eye on Jung Da Bin for various reasons, mainly because she’s a fantastic young actress with great … Continue reading →
The first poster is out for star-studded period C-drama Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace (Chronicles of Ruyi) and it’s legit captivating. Leads Zhou Xun and Wallace Huo are just exquisite together, with Wallace selling the tender love and affection to the point one doesn’t even remember that he just pledged his troth to real life wife Ruby Lin a … Continue reading →

There’s plenty that is fantastic about upcoming jTBC drama Fantastic, starting off with the beautifully designed and rendered set of drama posters. It’s rare that I love the entire poster collection, usually one or two at most stand out, but here the OTP romance one is warm and loving in a way that already sells the central romance. The way … Continue reading →
The Cheese in the Trap movie is one huge step towards reality today with news that K-actress Oh Yeon Seo has been cast as the female lead. Wallace Chung continues to be a supremely sought after and busy C-drama male lead, and this month he wraps one period C-drama in General and I while continuing to film a modern one tentatively called Flower Accompanying You the Entire Way. Looks like upcoming tvN drama The K2 really will be an potentially upgraded version of last year’s hit SBS drama Yongpal. Coming from the same screenwriter, the first teaser has the same sleek mood and ambiance, showing only seconds long snippets of leads Ji Chang Wook, Yoona, and Song Yoon Ah. At least the audience sees Ji Chang Wook’s face … Continue reading →
KBS Wed-Thurs melodrama Uncontrollably Fond is heading into the final arc of its run, and for the last two months watching the winter filmed drama during the hottest days of summer has felt like a throwback when I used to marathon older dramas from opposite seasons. I’m so used to seeing leading lady Suzy all bundled up so this latest … Continue reading →
The visual hallmark of period dramas is that the entire cast appears to be cosplaying, but in ways that is a feast for the eyes even if lacking in historical accuracy. With that said, sometimes the cosplaying seems to get more attention than the script and one never knows what to expect until the drama airs. Filming has wrapped for … Continue reading →
This year’s Hallyu surge may have come to a screeching halt thanks to political posturing over South Korea installing the US-built THAAD deployment so close to Chinese range. Of course politics can intrude on entertainment, it always had and always will, and in this case one wonders how long it’ll last and which actors/actresses/dramas/films will get affected in the interim. … Continue reading →
Starring in a drama called Drinking Solo, I wonder if the casting criteria for all leads was the ability to convincingly act drunk. Almost every K-drama has the requisite drunk scene but this one is going to be so jam packed and spread across all characters, with the narrative set in a studying institute where instructors and students congregate to … Continue reading →
