Hallyu may have hit the US stage this past weekend with yet another installment of KCON, over in Japan this was the opening weekend for home grown monster battling apocalyptic adventure movie Attack on Titan. An adaptation of the popular shonen manga of the same name, with already a wildly popular anime season 1 under its belt, the live-action movie has … Continue reading →
There is no trace of plucky Yang Sun in episode 9 of Scholar Who Walks the Night, giving her a chance to try on the tortured heroine mantle that so endeared Myung Hee to the viewers in episode 1. It works once again, giving Yang Sun a canvas to show her guts and grit, and let the men who care … Continue reading →
There is a new power couple to to rival Rain and Kim Tae Hee in looks, popularity, and moolah, and coincidentally the female half recently even worked with Rain on a movie together. What a reminder of how small the entertainment industry is, and how the pretty birds of a feather end up flocking together. Both Chinese and Korean entertainment news lit up … Continue reading →
The Korean cross-over into Chinese entertainment projects has fully hit the trifecta of movies, dramas, and even variety shows. With Yoon Eun Hye doing the fashion program Muse Dress 2 (The Goddess’s New Outfit), that caps a long two years worth of Korean entertainers going on Chinese variety programs as guests, to promote their latest project, or just to keep … Continue reading →
This Wednesday is the premiere of new SBS Wed-Thurs drama Yongpal (Yongpalyi), taking over for the ratings leader Mask and giving audiences a different type of dish to sink their teeth into. Instead of inheritance and identity hijinks, Yongpal goes for inheritance and medical hijinks, with a side of fast-paced action. I like the cast of Kim Tae Hee, Jo … Continue reading →
Another congrats are in order for Won Bin and Lee Na Young. A mere two months after the A-list top star couple tied the knot in the Korean countryside in late May of this year, the newlyweds are just brimming with good news as they have just confirmed that they are expecting a baby. Whether it’s a honeymoon baby or … Continue reading →
Of all the announced K-dramas on the horizon, the production with the biggest upside and downside remains the fully pre-produced KBS disaster zone medical drama Descendants of the Sun. Starring Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo, Jin Goo, and Kim Ji Won, it’s my most anticipated drama for the cast and the screenwriter being Kim Eun Sook of Heirs, Secret Garden, City … Continue reading →
I saw Eric this weekend at KCON. I know this is a post about an upcoming drama but I promise I’ll tie to to the glorious and perfect specimen of a man that is Eric Moon in a second. There were a few dramas vying for the post Yongpal Wed-Thurs time slot on SBS but a dark horse has emerged … Continue reading →
I want to thank TW-actress/producer Ruby Lin and uber Chinese television host He Joing for giving me the biggest bellyful of laughs in god knows how long. I was doubled over laughing until it hurt, and then promptly got up and clicked play again to experience it all over again. Ruby and He Joing are all over the Mandarin entertainment … Continue reading →
Lee Jun Ki is the best thing about Scholar Who Walks the Night for me. I think he gets taken for granted nowadays because he’s so consistently good, regardless of how his costars may or may not be delivering on their own performances. His visuals for the drama are also fantastic, the more dramatic look as vampire scholar Sung Yul … Continue reading →
One casting was confirmed last week and the other just dropped, but since I didn’t get around to writing about the former then it’s more efficient to just lump it with the latter for the purpose of this post. Upcoming tvN drama Cheese in the Trap gets more mouse in its clutches with the addition of a leading lady in … Continue reading →
I feel like there are fewer K-dramas nowadays, or maybe it’s just fewer K-dramas that excite me enough to anticipate and later write about. The falling domestic ratings may indicate the K-viewers feel the same way, and it’s hard to fault that sentiment when dramas are packed with PPL to the point of being distracting and the story lines are … Continue reading →
Another week and another new Time to Love treat, with the movie version of popular novel/drama Bu Bu Jing Xin another step closer to its August 7th premiere. I can’t get over I’ve gotten more and more excited to watch this, when initially I was primed to let it pass since nothing could possibly top how perfect BBJX the drama … Continue reading →
