Filming is nearly wrapped for upcoming C-movie Go Lala Go 2, the popular novel adaptation of the sequel to the same name hit novel and movie from a few years ago. I’m not complaining that it’s a whole new cast since the three leads are basically three of my favorite Taiwanese entertainers ever in Ariel Lin, Vic Zhou, and Bolin … Continue reading →
I’m back, peeps! The recent weeks long hiatus from drama recaps just happened by extended serendipity rather than conscious decision. As I waited for a new drama to come along that would hook my writing fancy, instead along came vacations and family events and sundry other mundane happenings that sucked up all my free time. And the dramas I ended … Continue reading →
I happened to be on Twitter last night mere moments after Lee Min Ho posted one of his infrequent tweets. I almost didn’t glance at it since celebrity tweets are usually bland anodyne life or project updates, but I’m soooooo glad I paused to take a look because I fairly spit out the drink I just took a sip from. My … Continue reading →
It’s been awhile since C-actress Liu Shi Shi had an upcoming acting project I’m actually interested in. That’s not a problem, I’m not the type of viewer or fan that forces myself to like whatever my faves are working on, and I find that a very healthy mentality to keep the opinions as objective as possible. Shi Shi has been … Continue reading →
I’m going to preemptively thank Scholar Who Walks the Night for releasing the most riveting long K-drama preview this year, for me at least but really that’s all I personally care about since I’m the one looking for some drama inspiration. I can’t proffer assurances that it’ll be great but the extended look had me crying (during the scene with … Continue reading →
Can I get a hells yeah for Orion and Origin possibly reuniting in a drama as the OTP? While it’s undeniable that Kill Me Heal Me was the Ji Sung show, and wow how he delivered by going above and beyond the call of duty, the drama wouldn’t have been as good without Hwang Jung Eum and Park Seo Joon … Continue reading →
The upcoming drama adaptation of popular webtoon Cheese in the Trap just got uncomfortably crowded in the leading lady category. The biggest casting news dropped first, that idol-actress Suzy was in talks for the college student role opposite confirmed male lead Park Hae Jin. Anytime Suzy’s name is floated publicly for a role it’s sure to garner extensive commentary and this … Continue reading →
The Contents Power Index (CPI) rankings are out, tabulating the most influential dramas of the first half of 2015. The ranking was for the period between January-June of 2015 and included all dramas aired on the big three as well as cable networks. CPI is calculated using ratings, discussion buzz, number of news articles written, number of searches, and how … Continue reading →
I’m starting to wonder if Suzy and Lee Min Ho went the candid route in admitting their relationship three months ago when outed by Dispatch because they basically couldn’t hide their rosy romance glow. The stars were out in full force yesterday at the premiere of upcoming horror fantasy K-movie The Piper (Korean title Guest), with none more shining and … Continue reading →
KBS is taking a page from the tvN playbook when it comes to casting an idol in a lead role and then backtracking due to the blow back. News broke on Monday that KBS had offered the female lead in upcoming Mon-Tues drama Taming Mother-in-Law (formerly called Killing Mother-in-Law) to Dasom of girl group Sistar. This is the new experimental … Continue reading →
It’s past the halfway mark of 2015 already and the networks are nearly finished lining up K-dramas through the end of the year. There remains a few working projects and time slots but it’s increasingly looking like actors and actresses that haven’t signed up yet for a drama land return will likely not be on the small screen this year. … Continue reading →
I don’t particularly miss Jaejoong being off in the army, nor am I all that happy he’s gone as if his presence was taking acting roles away from more qualified actors. He’s actually improved over the years, albeit inconsistently, but his recent leading man turn in Triangle is definitely a highlight of his acting career to date. Too bad he … Continue reading →
I almost never write about horror movies even though it’s an Asian film staple mostly because it’s not my thing. I also write more about dramas and there really isn’t a horror drama genre aside from the occasional dip into supernatural flourishes in some dramas. In my younger days I loved and watched tons of horror movies, Asian and Hollywood … Continue reading →
