After a highly scrutinized casting and development process, the K-adaptation of In Time With You finally arrives this weekend to meet the public. Will it tank on arrival? Even with A-lister Ha Ji Won headlining, nothing is guaranteed these days and a haphazard story or directing could send audiences scurrying. On the upside view, maybe it’ll be a refreshing breath … Continue reading →
The first teaser is out for upcoming fantasy vampire sageuk Scholar Who Walks the Night, and the verdict remains unclear as it straddles the line between potential hot mess and potential awesome drama crack. Thirty seconds isn’t enough for a first impression either way, but is enough to keep me firmly in the anticipation track. The drama started filming quite … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to Park Bo Young‘s allure and visual connection with the camera that Sure magazine can get away with posing her with fronds in two nearly identical shots and still make me love it. Park Bo Young’s image has always been sweet with a soupcon of edge, she hasn’t gotten the nation’s little sister cap to wear which … Continue reading →
I may be in the minority when it comes to anticipating the hotly awaited live-action movie version of the hit manga Attack on Titan. I find everything about it awesome so far in all the previews and casting, from pretty boy Miura Haruma as lead character Eren Yaeger on down. I come from the premise that it’s nigh impossible to … Continue reading →
Casting is firming up for the next MBC weekend drama to follow the currently airing Flower of the Queen (Equator’s Flower), which has just turned the corner into the second half of its 50-episode run so it’s perfect timing to start prepping the next thing. The ratings are a tad disappointing for Flower, averaging in the mid-teens, when its predecessor … Continue reading →
The clues are starting to come together about how Scholar Who Walks the Night plans to plot out the drama narrative, in ways that are wholly going to diverge from the source manhwa. I’ve read the entire source manhwa and quite like it, but I don’t have a problem with the drama going a different direction because the story really … Continue reading →
I remain massively conflicted about upcoming Chinese-Korean movie After Love. On one hand it stars Yoon Eun Hye, one of my favorite actresses from any industry. On the other hand it also stars Park Shi Hoo, an actor I was mostly indifferent to in the past and now am positively not ready to watch him act onscreen anytime soon. In weighing … Continue reading →
It’s been years since I watched KBS variety show 1N2D, which has been buzzed about a lot in the last two months thanks to being the meta platform in the same network drama Producer. I was eager to watch last week’s “Girlfriends” themed episode, where the male cast members each invited a female friend, thanks to the unexpected participation of Moon … Continue reading →
June 22nd is current Hallyu superstar Lee Min Ho‘s birthday, with the young man turning all of 28 years old in Western years and 29 in Korean age counting schema. That means he’s basically going to be enlisting in the military within the year, delaying it any longer and he’ll start incurring the wrath of Korean netizens who are sticklers … Continue reading →
I hope it doesn’t become a broken record that Lee Jun Ki looks just like (1) a vampire and (2) the character of Kim Sung Yul as drawn in the original manhwa. Because he does, so perfectly cast I wonder if the manhwa writer drew the vampire scholar with a picture of Lee Jun Ki next to her. Scholar Who Walks the Night … Continue reading →
This rumor is sure to make Healer fans hella happy, even if it’s as much a shot in the dark as anything to come from entertainment gossip. Both Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young‘s star rose another notch after doing the cult favorite Healer, a drama that didn’t get the domestic or even international mainstream ratings but definitely has … Continue reading →
Upcoming C-movie Go Lala Go 2 just upped the stakes majorly with the first look at the competition for leading lady Lala’s heart. Starring Ariel Lin, Vic Zhou, Bolin Chen, Michelle Chen, and Nana, the movie is a sequel to the hit film a few years back and both are based on a series of same name popular chick lit … Continue reading →
The Time I Loved You could still end up sucking but there’s no question the drama production has delivered 110% on crafting beyond gorgeous drama posters. None of those flat photoshopped creations with the faces of drama leads looking cute/constipated/intense arrayed around each other. I always prefer drama posters that are shot in real outdoor settings, or at least designed … Continue reading →
