With the conclusion of tvN drama Super Daddy Yul, it lead me to once again ponder the terrible stroke of luck that keeps befalling Lee Dong Gun‘s acting career. I couldn’t even get past the first episode of the drama and by all accounts it never got any better. I’m a fan of Lee Dong Gun from the dramas where … Continue reading →
The casting wand has waved and the two lucky C-stars to land the coveted leads of the long awaited drama adaptation of the popular Fei Wo Si Cun penned period novel is Hawick Lau and Zheng Shuang. Prolific Chinese novelist Fei Wo Si Cun has had many novels adapted into hit C-dramas but readers have been angling for this particular … Continue reading →
The casting silence from upcoming SBS Mon-Tues drama Chaebol’s Daughter (True Romance) can best be described as a difficult labor. Having casting problems is nothing new in drama land, whether lately or even in the early days, what surprises is purely that it’s this particular drama. Chaebol’s Daughter comes from the production team of One Warm Word, a drama that garnered … Continue reading →
Pretty is as pretty does, so when the drama gods combines it into a two-for-one special its even harder to look away. Song Seung Heon has been hopping between Korea and China for the past year due to filming a C-movie and other entertainment events that continue his step forward into the Chinese market. His upcoming C-movie The Third Way … Continue reading →
There’s good news to share on a slow entertainment news weekend, but probably a lot less high profile than the royal baby arriving. After a week of rumors, TW-actress Sonia Sui has come out and confirmed her pregnancy with newlywed husband Tony Xie. The media scrutiny has been on Sonia for years after her acrimonious split with long time boyfriend … Continue reading →
Looks like cross-border collaborations are increasing in other ways beyond China-Korea. The Chinese summer box office will include a wacky road trip movie helmed by a Hollywood production team but starring three top Chinese stars as leads. Marking the first time real life best friends of 20 years Zhao Wei and Huang Xiaoming worked together onscreen, the two are joined … Continue reading →
With the release of the first official trailer, I think it’s safe to expect supremely dorky rather than totally awesome with upcoming period C-drama God of War Zhao Zhi Long. Folks were naturally skeptical about Korean idol-actress Yoona being cast as a period C-beauty, but the trailer reveals that she’s far from the only one miscast. Aside from supporting female … Continue reading →
This is the cutest K-ent dating rumor ever, too bad it’s likely not true. Fans of currently airing MBC drama Angry Mom had a bit of fun waking up Friday morning to news that Kim Yoo Jung may be dating her costar Baro after the two were snapped attending a soccer game. Sadly the excitement about budding young love was … Continue reading →
There was a recent K-ent celebrity relationship reveal that slipped by me but I’m making up for it by the couple doing something pretty rare. K-actor Yoon Hyun Min (Discovery of Romance, Cruel City, Falling for Innocence) and K-actress Jeon So Min (Princess Aurora, Endless Love) recently revealed their dating status to the world. They met via a friendly cupid … Continue reading →
In less than 24-hours, SBS has declared a serious intention to make a sageuk statement this year. The network has started preparing for upcoming 50-episode long sageuk Six Dragons Flying by first making waves with the casting. The first named attached to the drama is young actor Yoo Ah In, who is considering the offer to star in what may … Continue reading →
The Girl Who Sees Smells may not be perfect but it continues to perfectly elicit both my delighted squeals and my holy mother of batman freakout screams. Episode 10 ends on the tensest cliffhanger moment yet, a reckoning of sorts for all three main leads. I consider Jae Hee integral to the story even as the soulless antagonist, the writer … Continue reading →
I’ve got bad and good news to report on upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs K-drama Masked Prosecutor (aka The Man in the Mask). This drama had one of the smoothest casting process of all the K-dramas this year, with the rumored leads and second leads all confirming in short order with none of the dizzying in-or-out carousel. The full cast of Kim … Continue reading →
It’s safe to say this drama might become Yoo Ah In‘s drama swan song before he leaves for military service, if he does end up doing it, of course. SBS is planning its own long 50-episode sageuk and not content to let MBC do Splendid Politics (Hwajung) alone this year. The drama is titled Six Dragons Flying (or Six Flying … Continue reading →
