Attack on Titan is arguably the most popular manga in the world right now, with One Piece aging and Naruto just ended. Those reading along with the manga (me!) can see the story headed towards a final arc, or at least there is a conclusion in the foreseeable future as the final battle looms. There’s no better time to milk … Continue reading →
The 2015 TV Report drama actors and actress power list is out, an annual survey the publication has done since 2013. The survey is compiled by the vote of the Korean drama industry’s top 30 PDs at the main three networks SBS, KBS, and MBC along with 10 producers at the top production companies, for a total vote by forty … Continue reading →
There aren’t just casting problems with K-dramas lately, this week comes a one-two punch of production issues hitting two high profile dramas. I’ll start with the unknown horse in the pack, namely the KBS variety department produced drama Producer. The drama premieres Friday night on May 8th and has been filming for a few weeks now but there might be … Continue reading →
The real ratings horse race has finally arrived for 2015, four months into the year already but a doozy right out of the gate. MBC‘s annual tent pole sageuk Splendid Politics (Hwajung) premiered this past Monday and announced its arrival in a big way with the best first episode ratings of all prime time dramas that premiered this year and the first … Continue reading →
Either the script is awesome or Shin Mina is simply ready for a dramaland return, whatever the reason she’s made life easier for drama lovers by agreeing to star in upcoming SBS drama Will You Have Dinner With Me (Let’s Have Dinner Together). New broke about her considering the offer only last week but she isn’t the thumb twiddling type … Continue reading →
Even the possibility of this casting happening is fantastic news enough, if it’s confirmed later on then it deserves confetti throwing celebration. K-media is reporting that beloved young movie actress Park Bo Young has been offered the leading lady role in upcoming tvN drama Oh My Ghost. If she accepts then she’ll be making her first drama leading lady debut despite … Continue reading →
Just when I felt like sitting Scholar Who Walks the Night down and demanding that the drama get its act together, it goes and gets it act together. FINALLY. The production company just released a statement that Kim So Eun is confirmed as the female lead of Scholar, playing the cross-dressing fallen noblewoman leading lady who falls in love with the … Continue reading →
Whatever your thoughts on the K-drama remake of popular TW-drama In Time With You, the project is for sure happening and now both main leads have inked their involvement. Lee Jin Wook has just been confirmed as the male lead of upcoming SBS weekend drama The Time I Loved You, 7000 Days opposite already confirmed female lead Ha Ji Won. … Continue reading →
Just as I was wondering why Descendants of the Sun hasn’t added to the main cast yet comes the first supporting role casting news. The drama starts filming in June and is clearly a huge production with tons of supporting roles in the soldiers and doctors category. With screenwriter Kim Eun Sook‘s casting style, she’s bound to throw in an … Continue reading →
If I wasn’t writing about dramas then I would go into hibernation mode with Scholar Who Walks the Night and have someone else wake up me when the casting is finally FINALLY finalized. It’s now bordering on the theater of the absurd with this drama’s inability to find female leads, and that includes both the first and second leading ladies. … Continue reading →
My interest in upcoming Hong sisters drama Warm and Cozy (Feeling Good and Warm) got cut in half when first leading man choice Kim Woo Bin elected to pass on the offer. Nothing against eventual leading man Yoo Yeon Seok, but I don’t feel much for him either way while I was super stoked to check out Woo Bin in … Continue reading →
It’s undeniable that Korea loves Suzy, whether she’s singing, acting, or doing CFs, at this point she can do no wrong. I don’t see her popularity extending overseas to the same degree that she’s beloved domestically, but her first foray into Chinese acting waters is forthcoming which may expand her reach. Chinese entertainment news is reporting that Suzy will be … Continue reading →
I’m still happily watching TW-drama Someone Like You (Chinese title Hearing Happiness). It’s the SETTV Sunday night tent pole drama but feels like the network’s stepchild with how the daily drama Dear Mom and the Friday night new arrival Murphy’s Law of Love are both getting so much more publicity blasts. SLY isn’t a drama that is terribly memorable after … Continue reading →
