I feel like the movie gods are smiling down on me, how else to explain the three-for-three casting in the upcoming K-movie Twenty. With just one leading man being a favorite of mine, like Kim Woo Bin is, that would be enough for me to want to watch it. Throw in Kang Ha Neul and Junho of 2PM and I … Continue reading →
When her love life gave her lemons, Tang Yan went and made herself come career lemonade. The Chinese acting world is constantly on the look out for pretty actresses to stay popular in the leading lady status, a spot occupied not just by acting talent but more by having a likable aura onscreen. That’s basically Tang Yan’s entire MO in … Continue reading →
Goodbye Punch, hello new Mon-Tues ratings leader! The line-up is now set for the next two months or so as new SBS drama Heard it Through the Grapevine premiered today coming in on the big shoes left by the critically acclaimed Punch. Joining sageuk Shine or Go Crazy, which at 24-episodes runs through early April, and last week’s new vampire … Continue reading →
Whoever was Hyun Bin’s talented Korean fan that made this fake movie trailer deserves upmost respect. *slow clap* Even though I don’t write about Hollywood entertainment here I still consume plenty of US shows and movies, not to mention staying on top of the latest on dit. The week prior was all about Valentine’s Day and the arrival of the movie adaptation … Continue reading →
The Kim Hyun Joong “soon to become a baby daddy and is getting married to reconciled ex-girlfriend” breaking news from yesterday has morphed into even more stunning developments that leave me shaking my head. This isn’t even about casting blame or supporting one side, I genuinely have no clue what is really going on, or whether the truth even matters … Continue reading →
The Sensory Couple (Girl Who Sees Smells) casting roulette continues onward as the drama starts getting much too close to needing to start filming yet there are no leads confirmed. There is still 10-episodes left of Hyde, Jekyll, Me (siiiiigh) so Sensory Couple has six weeks before it needs to be on deck, not to mention plenty of dramas ink … Continue reading →
Tomorrow a new K-drama arrives in the Mon-Tues slot for SBS, taking over from the critically acclaimed and ratings winner Punch with Kim Rae Won and Jo Jae Hyun. If I have time and the mood for something serious kicks in I’ll probably do a marathon of Punch, I like my darker dramas in one sitting so the tension can … Continue reading →
While Ji Sung is selling out ladies lipstick with flair and sass aplenty, leave it to model-turned-actor Cha Seung Won to incite a run on something as bland as a black down puffer jacket and trucker hat combo. While the make up sales stemming from buzzy dramas like You From Another Star and currently Kill Me Heal Me makes sense, … Continue reading →
The mainstream media is typically diplomatic when it comes to covering entertainment, especially in K-ent when so much is written with the involvement and consent of the subjects. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours two-way street. Critiques tend to be softer and more roundabout, and even the flops can get a write up solely on the things that did work. … Continue reading →
I genuinely thought there was no more updates to the Kim Hyun Joong legal scandal from 2014 when he was accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend. I covered the case here because I had a soft spot for Kim Hyun Joong after he did Playful Kiss, and because the allegations are so serious and I tried to parse the … Continue reading →
I think Yoo Ah In dodged a bullet with this one, but what do I know, it could end up being the surprise breakout K-drama of 2015. It was slow news last week due to lunar new year festivities when this new casting update came around. Last month it was reported that Yoo Ah In was offered the leading man … Continue reading →
SBS must be letting out a giant sigh of relief, and clearly all the other networks are watching as well because the entire mess with the online streaming licensing in China for the last two months affects the entire K-drama industry. A short refresher – China’s SARFT agency which regulates press, publication, radio, film and television issued a decree that … Continue reading →
The inevitable war has broken out in Lost You Forever, another war to grip the younger generation that might end with a rocks fall down ending like the fate that befall the parental generation. But one clear indicator that things are different this time around is the motivation behind it, Zhuan Xu’s ambition to unite the world is like his … Continue reading →
