The upcoming tvN drama Heart to Heart is going to have huge shoes to follow coming right after the highly rated and critically well-received Misaeng airing on Fri-Sat nights. At least the drama has finished casting the main leads and it’s a mixed bag for sure. Choi Kang Hee has been signed on since the project was first announced but … Continue reading →
Another reason I’m so happy Pinocchio is off to a promising start is to have another potential crack drama to rev up the joint. I love the feeling of loving a drama, all anticipation over new stills and translating written previews, the very essence of a drama fan being able to actually fangirl. It might not last but I still eagerly … Continue reading →
Holy smokes! Lee Seung Gi for Kill Me Heal Me? Shit, now I’m going to have to watch this drama, trainwreck potential be damned. I’ve been keeping a close eye on KMHM because it was supposed to have started filming already for a January 2015 air date following Mr. Back (Mr. Baek) on MBC Wed-Thurs. This drama has gotten way … Continue reading →
After the smackdown C-writer Tong Hua delivered to sleazy idea-stealing C-producer Yu Zheng last summer over the concept of an early Republic era military academy drama, both sides simmered down and I didn’t hear anything else about it. That’s why I was totally surprised to come across early filming pictures this week from the drama set, making me realize that … Continue reading →
Pinocchio is one of those dramas where there are multiple angles for drama viewers to check it out. There are Park Shin Hye fans hoping she can silence her critics and wash away some of the stupor of Heirs, there are Lee Jong Seok fans praying he’s back to fine form after straying into Dr. Stranger crazyville, and finally there … Continue reading →
When the J-dorama gods giveth they are oh so generous. And a bit piling on with so much coming at the same time. I’ve been following two J-doramas this season, both packed with some of my favorite actors and actresses wrapped in great storytelling. One of them is Nobunaga Concerto with Oguri Shun, Shibasaki Kou, Mukai Osamu, and Fujiki Naohito. … Continue reading →
This particular award is so peculiar in both selection and timing I’m just left scratching my head. It does make me reconsider revisiting it with the possibility that my opinion may change. The 2012 K-drama Faith starring Lee Min Ho and Kim Hee Sun was just named Top Korean Drama in Japan for 2014 by the Gayo Entertainment Awards. Gayo (a … Continue reading →
I posted two weeks ago about the nominees for the 2014 APAN Star Awards and how some choices were pretty legit while others strangely unfathomable. Pretty much the usual when it comes to acting awards in Korean drama entertainment. Last night the ceremony was held and this time I totally approve as Jo In Sung walked away with the Daesang … Continue reading →
I had a sinking feeling that Yoon Eun Hye would accept the offer to be the leading lady of the upcoming Korean-Chinese co-produced melo-romance movie After Love. It mostly came from seeing the production start filming already on Jeju with leading man Park Shi Hoo without any scrambles behind the scenes to secure a different leading lady. She’s officially confirmed … Continue reading →
The week starts with on terribly sad note as the Korean entertainment newspapers have confirmed that veteran actress Kim Ja Ok has passed away. She was only 63 years old and left the world too early after losing her battle with lung cancer on the early morning of November 16th in a Seoul hospital. To Hallyu drama viewers she’s probably … Continue reading →
KBS has been an abysmal failure in the prime time ratings this year but I like to believe the next promising drama from the network can change the tides. It’s either that optimism or acknowledging the network is basically incompetent when it comes to lining up dramas. Tomorrow’s Cantabile is thankfully just a 16-episode drama so the Mon-Tues time slot … Continue reading →
The cross-border remake wave continues and it really does flow equally in all directions. Korea remakes Taiwan and Japanese dramas while China is lining up K-drama remakes like there’s no tomorrow. Up next is a remake with a twist that’s unique to the way C-dramas are filmed. China is remaking the hit cable drama Queen In Hyun’s Man to air … Continue reading →
It was the best of romantic starts as far as noona-dongsaeng romances go, it’s now hit the worst of road bumps faster than Hanae can take off her glasses. Kyou wa Kaisha Yasumimasu glides into episode 5 all roses and rainbows before stumbling and fumbling all the way to an episode ending that had me gasping out loud. Yu gets … Continue reading →
