I honestly don’t know how I’m going to get through the remaining 5 episodes of My Lovely Girl. There will indeed be five more episodes as SBS has confirmed that the drama is ending on schedule next week but next Wednesday will be broadcasting two episodes back-to-back. I was aghast at the idea of an extension episode to even out … Continue reading →
There’s a new female-centric modern romance C-movie coming out called The Queens that is basically yet another girl power messy love relationships splashy offering. The Queens only came to my attention for the sprawling cast half of whom are actors and actresses I am automatically inclined to check out. Starring Song Hye Kyo (continuing her career foray in Chinese cinema), … Continue reading →
Eeeps, this drama casting news is about as perfect as it gets., at least for the male leads. I’m still hoping the female lead side falls through and another actress I love better gets the gig. For two years MBC was on a steady stream of sageuks on Mon-Tues nights until modern cop-gambler drama Triangle arrived in that slot. Triangle … Continue reading →
I’m tempted to send a trans-Pacific holler to the screenwriter for My Lovely Girl and ask the lady if she’s gone mad? Sure she’s written some middle-of-the-road fare like Can We Love, Dr. Champ, and Scent of a Woman, but so far all she has to show for MLG is how utterly ordinary and placid it is. Kind of like … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to the fame of Yoon Eun Hye and the notoriety of Park Shi Hoo that even the mere mention of them possibly doing a cross-border C-movie together gets the internet all abuzz. The movie Love After Love (爱后之爱) is slated to start filming in November with an eye towards a summer 2015 release meaning the casting confirmations … Continue reading →
SBS keeps pulling back the curtains little by little on upcoming Wed-Thurs drama Pinocchio. Compared to the teaser that dropped last weekend I’m much more pleased and relieved with the first batch of official character stills from the drama. Starring Lee Jong Seok, Park Shin Hye, Kim Young Kwang, and Lee Yoo Bi, Pinocchio follows a team of city beat … Continue reading →
C-actress Wang Li Kun is having a very acting-packed movie year and if she’s as good as all the movies casting her then there might be a new screen goddess arriving soon. She reminds me of a young Zhou Xun and that’s a very good comparison for her. The movie production for the upcoming mystery C-romance movie The Rebirth of … Continue reading →
How catastrophic would Bom-yi’s death be? Not just to me, either, to the whole Kang/Lee/Hanu Haon lion pride? Our sexy maned Dong-ha has only recently rediscovered his confidence in loving without bounds, and finally forgave himself for being unable to protect his wife from harm. Losing this warm presence he can share his good fortune with just isn’t fair. Both Momma Lionesses love … Continue reading →
So far I like what I see from the new SBS weekend drama Birth of a Beauty, but the very premise of this drama has me going in with a giant dose of wary. The official posters are out along with a third most substantive preview showing how Joo Sang Wook‘s heartbroken mad-man chaebol transforms conventionally unattractive ahjumma played by … Continue reading →
The 49th Annual Golden Bell Awards totally snuck up on me when it flooded all the TW-ent media portals this weekend with picspam galore. The TW-version of the Emmy’s celebrated the great television programs and performances of 2014 and most of the idol fluffy dramas I watched were nowhere near being nominated. Aside from the nominations for In a Good Way and … Continue reading →
From the moment Bom-yi decided she loved Dong-ha enough to risk both families’ censure, she accepted the battle to come. When she followed Dong-ha to Udo, he challenged her assertion that she understood the repercussions. “What do you plan on doing now? You don’t know how difficult it is.” She claimed to be an adult who could be responsible for her decisions. All she … Continue reading →
SBS needs a slap upside the head for how spectacularly bad it’s doing with the promos for the upcoming Wed-Thurs drama Pinocchio. Would it kill the network to drop a steady stream of news, it needn’t be a shock and awe campaign but the radio silence has been jarring since this is a big production and SBS is known for … Continue reading →
This is pretty big K-drama news even if it doesn’t involve casting, yet again confirming that screenwriter Kim Eun Sook is one of those brand name scribes that generates headlines on her own without the need for big name stars. It’s been a year since Heirs with Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye aired on SBS last October but still … Continue reading →
