It’s been awhile since Kim Sun Ah has been out in the public eye and that’s mostly due to her working less these past two years. This year she did have a headlining K-movie called The Five and drama-wise her last television appearance was two years ago in I Do, I Do with Lee Jang Woo. I miss her both … Continue reading →
As expected, the impending release of Yoo Seung Ho from military service is already generating major industry buzz. Everyone knows one thing for certain, he went in a boy and is coming out a man. Whether or not he’ll have abs to show is irrelevant, he’s officially done with tween or teen roles and is returning to the welcome embraces … Continue reading →
I’ve been thinking about the most wonderful yet thoroughly depressing to read male leads in Tong Hua novels and she’s done a fantastic job of creating many unforgettable such men. 8th Prince got it bad in Bu Bu Jing Xin since he had the girl until the tides of history kicked him in the arse and she left him rather … Continue reading →
If the recent explosive rumors about Faye Wong and Nicholas Tse are all true, then real life is surely way more fantastical than even fanfiction. Hot on the heels of an intrepid paparazzi team that staked out HK singer-actress Faye Wong’s Beijing luxury condo to capture a four day stay-in love fest with her reunited ex-boyfriend Nic Tse, there has … Continue reading →
This is too unintentionally hilarious not to share. Not to say Lee Min Ho doesn’t at times look quite striking and handsome playing the part of a motorcycle lover in hawking a brand of Chinese electric and gas-powered motorcycles, but there are too many silly asides that turn what was meant to come across as cool and instead ends up … Continue reading →
Who’s tired of the deluge of negative news coming out of K-ent lately? Not to pick on that particular industry but it could use a dating shocker or three right about now to wash away the slime of violence and blackmail and affairs and dodgy car accidents. Last year’s K-ent dating flood appears to have slowed to a trickle by … Continue reading →
While I’m happy that Choi Jin Hyuk has finally gotten a prime time drama headlining gig, I’m even happier that the broken record chorus of pleas for him to finally be the leading man will come to a full stop. MBC has finalized the line up for its upcoming Mon-Tues drama to follow Records of a Night Watchman, and I … Continue reading →
The next SETTV Friday night idol drama has been casting finalized with a fresh new feel. Whether the story is any good we’ll have to wait and see but get ready now for a bunch of different faces to grace the screen. The two male leads have been confirmed with Chris Wang and Lego Lee two months ago but with … Continue reading →
I don’t write about HK entertainers much since by and large I’ve stopped watching TVB and ATVÂ HK-dramas. HK movies have also declined from the Golden Age in the late 80’s through the late 90’s in terms of creative and fun output. I still keep up to date on the latest on-dits in the HK entertainment scene and last month all … Continue reading →
It was a great summer for Lee Jun Ki as his sageuk drama Joseon Gunman was the top-rated prime time drama for its time slot. Overall the ratings were down to the low teens or high single digits across all the networks but this summer did see three solid dramas in the Wed-Thurs offering. JG was up against It’s Okay, … Continue reading →
I am solidly interested in all three leads of My Secret Hotel. Their characters may sometimes act impetuously or seemingly in a calculating way, but infused throughout is the feeling of watching adults do a messy complicated dance of attraction. All the kudos goes to leads Yoo In Na, Jin Yi Han, and Namgong Min, both in acting talent and … Continue reading →
Ain’t nothing this year going to top the upcoming C-drama Heirs From Another Star for hot mess potential. The drama was produced and filmed in what felt like the blink of an eye and is actually arriving in mere hours as it premieres September 19th on the major Chinese video streaming site iQiyi. It was always meant to be an … Continue reading →
Sampling and enjoying My Lovely Girl (My Lovable Girl) is a guilt-free treat for me. There’s no explanation needed for basking in warm nostalgia as this drama so breezily delivers an entire bags worth of old school K-drama romance tricks with an updated cast of players from when dramas like this were the norm a decade ago. It’s grown out … Continue reading →
