Moon Lovers Lead Lee Jun Ki Attends EXO Concert to Support Close Costar Baekhyun

A Koala's Playground Posted on November 28, 2017 by ockoalaNovember 27, 2017
Two young men holding a banner together.

Out of the detritus of the failed K-drama remake of Chinese romance time-travel novel Bu Bu Jing Xin (Startling with Each Step) comes friendships and even lasting memories of performances that worked despite the failure of the greater construct. Two of the brotherly leads of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo recently showed their closeness in real life when 4th Prince Lee … Continue reading →

Lee Jun Ki Bids Love and Fond Farewell to Baekhyun and Z.Hera’s Cute Couple from K-Bu Bu Jing Xin

Actor posing with scene from filming.

Lee Jun Ki has been a huge jokester on the set of Korean Bu Bu Jing Xin, taking levity when the drama has been mostly intense and bloody. The most recent picture from his SNS shows his Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo 4th Prince character looming with a smile over the bodies of his poor deceased younger brother and sister-in-law. … Continue reading →

Laughter and Thrills Aplenty in Newest Preview for K-Bu Bu Jing Xin Featuring Sprawling Cast

A Koala's Playground Posted on August 14, 2016 by ockoalaAugust 14, 2016
Three individuals in traditional attire, laughing together.

Okay, I’m officially in love with Lee Jun Ki‘s version of 4th Prince from Bu Bu Jing Xin. I know it increases the odds for disappointment to fall for a character in advance of watching the drama but holy drama gods is he’s insanely gorgeous and dangerous in all the right sageuk male lead ways. In the newest preview for … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on July 19, 2016 by ockoalaJuly 18, 2016
Three stylish men posing in a vintage setting.

Somewhere between I Want and Fans Myself lies the upcoming K-adaptation of the popular Chinese time-traveling romance novel Bu Bu Jing Xin. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo) has front loaded the cast with more flower boys than can be counted on one hand, with Lee Jun Ki leading the way as 4th Prince commanding the screen with his … Continue reading →

The Cast of K-Bu Bu Jing Xin Wow on the Cover and Pages of Cosmopolitan Korea

A Koala's Playground Posted on July 15, 2016 by ockoalaJuly 15, 2016
Couple posing for Cosmopolitan magazine cover.

Cosmopolitan Korea certainly scored a coup on landing the cast of the K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin, turning the Goryeo princes from Bobogyungsim: Ryeo (Scarlet Heart: Moon Lovers) back into their snappy modern incarnations. Leads Lee Jun Ki and IU take one cover as the time-crossed lovers, looking absolutely stylish and visually compatible. She does seem younger but that totally fits … Continue reading →

Lee Jun Ki’s Having a Bloody Good Time Along with Full Cast in Official Character Posters for K-Bu Bu Jing Xin

A Koala's Playground Posted on July 4, 2016 by ockoalaJuly 4, 2016
Movie poster featuring two contrasting characters.

One of these things is not like the others is my first reaction upon seeing the just released official character posters for the Korean drama version of Bu Bu Jing Xin. The concerted effort to distinguish male lead Lee Jun Ki‘s 4th Prince, from the C-drama version’s understated steely scholar and also from the other princes in the K-version called … Continue reading →

Official Poster and First Exciting Teaser Video for K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin

A Koala's Playground Posted on June 6, 2016 by ockoalaJune 6, 2016
Historical drama poster featuring multiple characters.

The K-drama world of Bu Bu Jing Xin (Bobogyungsim: Ryeo) took a big step forward this week with the Chinese released the first poster and video teaser for the drama. It looks good, people, legit does not look like a hot mess off the bat. The Korean version of the many princes are all shining in their own way and … Continue reading →

K-Bu Bu Jing Xin Shares First Look at Three Supporting Princes in Kang Ha Neul, Baekhyun, and Hong Jong Hyun

A Koala's Playground Posted on April 4, 2016 by ockoalaApril 3, 2016
Person in traditional attire, poses confidently.

If I were to split the six main princes of Chinese novel Bu Bu Jing Xin up, my favorite three are 4th, 13th, and 14th, so it’s rather coincidental that the Korean adaptation released new stills of the other three princes first. Bobogyungsim: Ryeo is still deep into filming for a fully pre-produced airing later this year but there have … Continue reading →

The Cast of K-Bu Bu Jing Xin Decked Out in Period Costumes for Prayer Ceremony

A Koala's Playground Posted on January 28, 2016 by ockoalaJanuary 27, 2016
Collage of a drama poster and actors.

The princes of the C-drama version of Bu Bu Jing Xin were all saddled with the unfortunate Qing dynasty male queue hairstyle, but luckily were sporting colorful luxuriously embroidered threads that befit their royal position and helped to quickly identify each one. Looks like the K-drama version is doing the same as the first picture of the cast in costume … Continue reading →

Lee Jun Ki and IU Lead the Script Reading Session for K-Bu Bu Jing Xin

A Koala's Playground Posted on January 17, 2016 by ockoalaJanuary 17, 2016
Group photo of nine smiling young men.

Holy cuteness alert! The first stills are here from the production of upcoming Korean Bu Bu Jing Xin and it’s courtesy of the supremely eye candy filled script reading session. Bobogyungsim: Ryeo (Bu Bu Jing Xin: Splendor) won’t air until the second half of the year (I’m guessing September 2016) after being fully pre-produced and having gotten SARFT approval so the … Continue reading →

A Look at the Chinese Versus Korean Casts of Bu Bu Jing Xin

A Koala's Playground Posted on January 7, 2016 by ockoalaJanuary 7, 2016
Grid of various male portraits and headshots.

I’m not sure why I remain so optimistic about the upcoming K-version of Bu Bu Jing Xin, other than I’m most likely still not jaded as a drama watcher and enjoy the excitement of happy anticipation. Even though I love the novel and C-drama adaptation to pieces, neither are masterpieces without flaws, and what makes them so near and dear … Continue reading →

A Koala's Playground Posted on January 4, 2016 by ockoalaJanuary 4, 2016
Collage of six young Asian men.

A day after the leads of soon-to-start-filming period K-drama Moon Lovers confirmed final casting in Lee Jun Ki and IU, now the rest of the cast is also locked down and more importantly got specific character assignments. This is good news even if fans of the original work in novel and C-drama Bu Bu Jing Xin have issues with the K-version casting, at … Continue reading →
