This is kinda a random award but apparently it’s the 23rd year of it so go figure. The 2018 KCA (Korean Consumer Association) Consumer Day Awards took place in Seoul this week with winners from the drama, movie, and music industries. Notable winners include Jo In Sung and his good friend and also dream actress to work with Park Bo … Continue reading →
With the close of 2018 looming the polls are starting to reference the entire year and Gallup just released the most popular film actors as voted by the South Korean audiences for the year. Topping the list is everyone’s favorite tough guy Ma Dong Seok in first place, followed by perennial top film actor Ha Jung Woo with Lee Byung … Continue reading →
The prime time dramas are jumping into the supernatural realm that cable dramas have done so well in recent years, the horror/possession/creepy dramas that when done well are so gripping. MBC is teeing up for Mon-Tues in early 2019 the supernatural investigative drama Item starring Joo Ji Hoon and Jin Se Yeon with the screenwriter of Save Me and the … Continue reading →
The second to arrive on the Joseon zombie genre has a middle height hurdle to vault to be the better of the two, and honestly I think it will based on the production scope. Netflix drama Kingdom will air in January 2019, a few months after the K-movie Rampant (Outbreak) with Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun dealt with the same … Continue reading →
Another K-awards ceremony came and went and this one was decided low key being from the Korean Film Critics Association but the winners merit a mention. It’s pretty serendipitous and likely a good sign that upcoming K-drama Brilliant costars Han Ji Min and Nam Joo Hyuk were winners, her as Best Actress for Miss Baek and him as Best New Actor … Continue reading →
There are two sageuk zombie projects slated for year end 2018 and the first to arrive was the movie Rampant (Outbreak) with Hyun Bin and Jang Dong Gun which premiered first in the box office but has since then petered out and will likely net less than it’s $15 million budget domestically and will need international and streaming sales later … Continue reading →
It’s only the 2nd year for the Seoul Awards, sponsored by Sports Seoul, but there must either be great marketing or someone knows all the A-listers because this year’s ceremony was nearly as star-studded as the prestigious Baeksang Awards. The big winners were drama My Ahjusshi for television Daesang and the counterpart went to the film The Spy Gone North. … Continue reading →
I love me some perfectly tailored Ermenegildo Zegna for my man so I’m familiar with their classic suiting and accessories and find myself rather amused at the brand’s casual offerings. It’s time for the men to walk the brand red carpet as the ladies do it more often with plenty of hits and misses. Joo Ji Hoon was the standout … Continue reading →
I’m not ready to fully get my hopes up for MBC drama Item but it’s at 2/3rd mast now with the confirmed casting of male lead Joo Ji Hoon and Kim Kang Woo. It’s a police thriller with supernatural elements and these two are a spot on casting. But of course there still a caveat namely Jin Se Yeon has … Continue reading →
There are actually tons of K-dramas produced each year especially with the added competition of cable channels. That means there is too many to honestly keep track of other than for the obsessive completist, which I may have been at one point but no longer. As such I totally thought these two names had never crossed paths before only to … Continue reading →
I’m pretty sure the creative folks at couture brand Giorgio Armani, which has successfully branched out into skincare and makeup the last decade, thought through the optics of bringing a giant gold lipstick statue on the red carpet for this weekend’s beauty event in Seoul. The attendees were all dressed in Armani, and I’m guessing even the men use the … Continue reading →
The confidence is high and the pockets are deep with this one. Netflix has announced a second season for original content K-drama Kingdom despite the fact that the drama just finished filming and hasn’t even aired yet. Score for the team of Joo Ji Hoon, Bae Doo Na, and Ryu Seung Ryong, and especially for screenwriter Kim Eun Hee who … Continue reading →
